Today, I am choosing places to visit in Kutch, which is a favourite among travellers with brilliant opportunities for photographers.
Best Time To Visit Kutch
The best time to visit the Rann of Kutch is from October to March, when the marsh dries up and turns into a magical white paradise. The Rann Utsav, from November to February, is another great time to be in Kutch when the festivities bring out the best of this place.
How To Reach Kutch
By air
The city of Bhuj is well connected to most metropolitan cities. Direct flights are available from Mumbai and Ahmedabad to Bhuj, while indirect flights have a stoppage at these cities.
By train
Bhuj is connected to New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad by direct trains.
By road
State buses and taxis are available from Ahmedabad and all other major cities in Gujarat to Bhuj.
Places to visit in Kutch
Head to the Sabarmati Ashram and go back in time with this quaint space. The display of the archival material here drives you back into the Gandhian Era, when Sabarmati served as a hub for the freedom movement of India.
Move out of the city towards the quiet Polo Forest and visit the surrounding temples. The Polo Forest is a short drive away from the city. The walk along the Harnav River brings a fresh view of the unexplored beauty of this state. Shiv temple at Sharneshwar, Lakhena temple and Jain temple are worth a visit while you are here.
Kankaria Lake is one of the best places to visit in Kutch and Ahmedabad. The amusement park and balloon safari are another major attraction at this place. The lake is also famous for India's biggest stone murals that can be seen on the park's sidewalk.
Trains run everyday from Ahmedabad to Bhuj and it's the best way to reach to the western edge of the state where the magical region of Kutch awaits. Take a 8-9 hour journey by train or bus from Ahmadabad. If you're short on time, a direct is also available.

Go to the beach at the first opportunity. Taxis are available from Bhuj to Mandvi, which is the fastest and the most convenient way to reach this beach destination. Spend your day relishing the clear waters, birds and windmills at the beach.
Visit the Vijay Vilas Palace that was featured in the Bollywood movie, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The royal family of the princely state of Kutch lives here. Luxury tents are available to spend the night near the Mandvi beach.

The distance from Bhuj to the coveted spot of the white sands at Hodka is approximately 80 km. Due to its proximity to the Indo-Pakistan border, tourists require special permission from the DSP's office near Jubilee Ground in Bhuj.

Experience the White Rann of Village Dhordo and explore the nearby Banni Villages which are some of the most popular places to visit in Kutch. Bhuj is a central point to explore the western side of Gujarat. For an extended itinerary, Bhuj is perfect to make any detours. At the end of the trip, head back to Ahmedabad, the most convenient transport hub to reach out to other cities and states.
If you're up for a bonus detour around Bhuj, Kalo Dungar is a great destination to tick off of your bucket list before leaving Kutch. These black hills are about an hour away and make for a great escape for panoramic views of Kutch. The 400-year old Dattareya temple is another attraction that this spot is famous for.
