Dwarka : India's submerged town.
Radhe Radhe !
Visit to this Kingdom of Lord Krishna, 'Dwarka' which means Gateway to heaven.
There are multiple ways to travel to Dwarka, I reached the closest airport-Jamnagar and booked a private taxi available within the airport area, which was a good option as the local driver helped with stay options and other travel queries.
Tip: Choose a stay close to the Dwarkadhish temple so that you can walk around the town and visit the temple for its early morning and night prayers. The temple atmosphere is so spiritual that you loose the track of time.
There is ritual of reading the Rukmini Patra (Letter) to the Lord before he is put to sleep - every single day. Its a must experience.
(Mobile and camera are strictly prohibited in temple)
There are many other small temples around, each having its own significant history. You can take a dip in the holy Gomati river which at one end meets the sea. You need to cross the Sudama Setu (bridge) to visit the beach side. According to the archaeological survey, there are indeed structures like stone anchors, loacks and walls submerged off this shore. You will find tourist attractions like camel ride, Scuba-dive, parasailing near the beach.
A foodie will be blessed really good Gujarati dishes in the hotels and outlets surrounding the temple.
2 km from Dwarkadhish temple is the Rukmini Devi temple, there is rickshaw ride available for this journey. Its believed that the journey of Dwarka is incomplete if Rukmini Temple is not visited.
Rukmini Devi, Queen of Dwarka & beloved wife of Lord Krishna. You can witness their journey by the paintings in this temple and hear the tales from priest.
Its the place where Lord Krishna Rukmini Devi got married.
Don't miss to drink the holy water from small reservoir adjacent to temple, which too has a well known history.
Bet Dwarka is indeed worth visiting, surrounded by sea from all sides reached this island by lovely boat ride from Okha port. Believed to be the original home of Lord Krishna is located off the coast on the Gulf of Kutch.
Booked a car back to Jamnagar for required days and places visited on the way:
Somnath Temple : India's first & oldest Jyotirlinga.
This temple needs no introduction and represents the Greatest Spiritual source of India - Lord Shiva.
Don't miss the sunset on the overlooking sea.
Porbandar : Coastal town and hub of maritime.
Visited Kirti Mandir - Birthplace and reminiscent to Mahatma Gandhiji's childhood days. A peek into the legendary life through his belongings kept in the museum.
Visit to the holy Girnar Hill & Gir National Park can also be planned.
There are several markets in Jamnagar for Clothes and Jewelry.
Completing the blog on spiritual note with the Maha-Mantra
