Day 1
It was a winter morning, cold breeze, dark sky and excited for another road trip to kutch. I kick-started at 5:00 am with full of excitement and the roads were so good and completely empty so i enjoyed my ride till the 1st break.
Dhordo, kutch was last the destination of a day and it's around 350 km from Jamnagar,Gujarat.
So it is always good to start your ride early to reach your destination on time.
Now, it's time for quick breakfast since i rode around last one and half hours on NH947 till MALIYA. there were plenty of Hotels and dhabas on highways. Near Maliya, where i found food zone having CCD Cafe.
I was latterly not aware about the challenges which i was going to face during this trip. After a quick refiling, i started again.
At Shikarpur, windmills and Power-grids are like greeting you. Took a quick snaps, but now the road was going to tougher to ride as wind speed was so elevated, my bike was drifting toward the wind direction and it was so tough to ride and all of sudden a sand storm was knocking the way ahead and visibility was around only 3 metre. Although the ride was so adventure but at the same time it was scary too.
That was my one of the best and thrilling experience of my bike trip.
At Bhuj, which was around 121 km away form my location, one of friend was waiting there to join me on this trip.
We had a lunch around 12 noon, top-up my bike fuel tank and headed to the Dhordo. But before we reached the destination we had to stop at WHITE RANN PARMIT OFFICE near BHIRANDIARA.
TO GET THE PERMIT:- Park your vehicle aside. Get the form filled with details of your vehicle and passengers with nominal fees to visit the RANN. Or you can get ONLINE permit from www.rannpermit.com.
NOTE:- CARRY EXTRA FUEL BECAUSE THERE ARE NO FREQUENT REFUELING STATIONS ON THAT ROAD
Finally, in the evening, we reached the majestic location of the WHITE RANN to witness the beautiful sunset. it is nature's wonder and gives a totally different experience from the rest of India.
Here also, you need to take permit from permit office which is managed by BSF & Gujarat Government, Bus shuttle services are available to reach the WHITE RANN VIEW POINT as no private vehicles are allowed.
There are plenty of options available to stay in and nearby DHORDO. one is TENT CITY which is managed by Gujarat Tourism Board and others are hotels, tent houses and home-stays. We decided to stay in "BHONGA" A Traditional construction type of rural house of Kutch.
Now, it's time to take rest and regain the energy for the further journey after having delicious Kutchi food with local folk music.
Have a safe ride.
DAY-2
Time for early start as we need to cover lots of places i.e Kala Dungar, BSF War Memorial, Dhrobana and Mandvi Beach. Breakfast was simple yet very delicious.
It was a breathtaking winter morning ride. View of white salt desert on one side and brown desert field on other side of road was like treat to my travel soul.
Kala Dungar is the highest point in Kutch and it is located around 60 mins from Dhordo village. The roads to this place are also good through narrow and last bit of stretch was a little steep. There are no food outlets en-route, just some villages. But most beautiful thing is the unique birds eye view of the rann, the lake and the bluest sky with a good breeze.
Really excited for the next destination and that is Kutch BSF War Memorial.
To reach the War memorial you need to take permission from BSF Office and BSF Check-post is located at other side of the INDIA GATE BRIDGE where you need to put your all luggage and even phone and camera as photography is strictly prohibited. We met some of our "JAWANS " and there are really supportive. they told us how hard and harsh conditions are there in summer.
By the evening we reached our last destination of the day i.e Mandvi, such a beautiful city. Visited Mandvi Beach and spent whole evening at the beach with splendid sunset.
it's a last day of our bike trip .we had cover a lots of places since last two day and it was really good.
The best things in travelling are the people we met, the places we've been and the memories we've made. After gathering all these alluring memories, those were made in this trip, time for say good bye from Mandvi.
Will back with another travel trail soon.
Have a safe ride.
NOTE:- AFTER AN HOUR BIKE RIDE, SHOULD TAKE A BREAK TO STRETCH YOUR BACK AND GIVE SOME REST TO YOUR BODY AND YOUR BIKE TOO.
