It was my 3rd Visit to Goa, I had already covered most of the south and north Goa beaches and Panjim in my earlier visits. So this time decided to explore something new. Also I just had a half day time, and wanted to do something new and exciting! So I came to know about trek to Tambdi Surla Waterfalls through our friends studying at NIT Goa.

Had some hilarious moments at Chapora Fort with our friends from NIT Goa

Goa is mostly famous for its beaches which good for a sun-bath, watching sunset, parasailing activities, water sports, beach parties, dolphin watching and sea food. So most people spend their time at beaches and go back, without exploring further but not us.

We took the Bikes & Scooties and started at 6 am from NITowards Tambdi Surla

Tambdi Surla is located the Collem Forest/Bhagwan Mahaveer Santuary, which is also famous for its DoodhSagar Falls. With a height of 310 meter DoodhSagar is India's one of the tallest waterfall and the view is mesmerising, during my visit to Doodhsagar in my 2nd Goa Trip the only thing I didn't like was too many people. There are govt jeeps which ferry tourists to this spot located deep inside the forest, so the number of people reaching this spot is more.

But if you are an adventure lover and want a serene environment free from people there is another waterfall, which is quite similar to DoodhSagar waterfall is Tambdi-Surla Waterfalls . Almost everyone who visits Goa or Doodhsagar misses this place, as there no direct jeep/car/bike that goes to this place. You have to treak atleast for 70 mins to reach this place. The best time to visit this waterfall is early morning as the day gets hotter, it drains your energy more. If you have one full day, go for Doodhsagar as well.

Taking some rest during our trek

Located near the Waterfall, 12th century old Mahadev Temple is a visual treat to the eyes. It's maintained by ASI, and was build by rulers of Kadamba Dynasty. It is also the oldest known temple in Goa. From this point the trek to waterfall takes around 60 minutes. There are some benches if you feel tired, you can sit and relax. Take some bananas and water to keep your energy levels high during the trek. There are local food stalls near the temple who offer Nimbu Pani, Bananas and some snacks.

Overall the Trek to waterfall was one of the best things in Goa I had done. So you must visit this waterfall when you plan your next Goa visit.
