Whenever you leave Goa, you leave with a lust to get back here again. After my last visit in July 2015, this trip came after some nine months. Things were little clear on the maps but hazy in the mind. Same as last time, the morning train from Udupi dropped us at Madgao by 2:30 in the afternoon. A scooter on rent and some fuel kick started the 250km long ride for the next 30 hours, Madgao - Cabo-de-Rama - Colva - Panjim - Calangute Fort Aguada - Old Goa – Panjim - Cansaulim - Madgao.

Day 1

Cabo de Rama

Cabo-de-rama (3-5pm): We rode down from Madgao further south to Cabo-de-rama via Varca, Carmona and Velin. On my last visit, I found this to be a “must-visit-again” place. Stopped by a small beer shop just before the fort to grab a quick bite and a pint of beer, Gazed at the sea from the top of the fort, an isolated place, very few people turn up here, mainly locals.

Colva Beach

Colva (6-7pm): Rode along the same route back to hit Colva beach, it was a usual Goan beach, a bit crowded, so did not spend much time there. We decided to go to Panjim for night stay. Took Cansaulim route to Panjim, skipping the highways.

Panjim

Panjim (9-12am): Met an old friend of mine over dinner and a couple of rounds of beer. Rode through the streets of Panjim in the middle of the night, and headed to Varty’s hillside huts for stay.

Day 2

Calangute

Fort Aguada and Calangute Beach (9-11am)

Old Goa Churches (1-3pm)

After visiting the churches of Old Goa, headed back to Panjim.

Dona Paula

Dona Paula (4-5pm)

Bambolim Beach

The best of the journey started after Dona Paula. We took Goa University route to exit Panjim. To stay off the highway, we took a right after BSNL Bambolim Campus towards Bambolim beach, driving through woods to hit Siridao beach, which gives you a breath-taking view of Dona-Paula from the opposite side.

Cansaulim Beach

Cansaulim village and Beach (6-7pm): On the way back, we exited NH 17B near Upas Nagar, riding on the Dabolim-Cavelossim road to reach a very pretty settlement, Cansaulim village. There is a small church on the left side of the road. Heading further, the road moves along the sea shore. Any right turn would land you up at an isolated beach, we headed towards Cansaulim beach riding through a trail leading to the beach. Quite close to the imagination, just the two of you at an isolated beach, the freshness of evening sea breeze, and the sun slowly sinking down the horizon.

As it turned dark, it was time to call off another visit to Goa. The lust is calling us again, to ride along the roads you don’t want to end, to gaze at the Arabian sea from the top of the fort, to stroll along the beach and turn back to look at foot prints on the sand immersing in the endless waves, to stop by a small church and listen to the silence inside. The lust is certainly calling us again.
