This little pond in Sanguem Taluka is must of the hidden places in Goa. If you clap your hands or step heavily on the steps, there is an immediate reaction from the water. The surface starts bubbling and is quite a fascinating sight.

The reason is the accumulated methane gas from the vegetation underwater which escapes at the subtlest of movements. In fact you can get yourself a natural fish pedicure by dipping in feet for long enough.

The rock cut caves are monuments of the pre-historic life in Goa, a time of Pandavas and Mahabharata. These caves (located 9kms south of Bicholim Town) are now a rather recent discovery and are said to be a hide out for Pandavas during their exile.

A ferry ride away from Ribandar, the Bird Sanctuary is located in the island of Chorao. During the migratory months birds come from as far as Siberia, and are best spotted early in the morning.

Many don't know that Goa has a rich Buddhist history and Rivona Cave is a living example of that. This Buddhist cave, carved in laterite rock is said to be the seat of a Buddhist Monk. The cave even has a stone sculpture of Buddha in 'Bhumisparsha' posture, belonging to the Mahayana Sect. On the insides of the cave Kadamba lion icons decorate the stone walls.
