26th February, in the afternoon when we land in the city of fun, begins the explorer in us. A group where the major count was of the ones coming for the first time. I mix of thoughts, expected to be green and blue, but we start with the city. From the Dabolim airport, we being a big group hired for a 12 seat vehicle- it costs less as compared to have multiple taxis- surely more fun. Moving out from the airport region, we pass by the city roads and soon touch the highway while driving towards our accommodation next to Calangute Beach, North Goa. A few kilometers away, on the long run road with greens on both sides, we see a glimpse of the blues.
Just crossing the first glimpse, the eyes roll behind to see the sharp contrast of the Zuari river and the Konkan Railway bridge.
Further, the road leads to the green highway and then the city besides the sea. The city roads with all food around, the smell of fish and the views of coconut craft. We reach our pre-booked homestay just a walk away from the Calangute Beach. As it was a big group with three small babies, so on reaching there, all we wanted was just to rest. A nap and then we go out for lunch. Nearby is all full of many food joints and one can easily fetch food from different cuisines- but as we say "When in Rome, do as Romans do", so I would suggest go for the Goan food, as it tastes better than anything else.
Later in the day, after dinner, a walk to the beach was our very first encounter with the Goan beach waters- but a bad experience. It's true people forget life in Goa, but people don't forget to exploit it. The beach was not clean and the water stinky. Sad to say, but depressing. To the good of Goa, is also a bad side. Also, the ice-cream vendors around could only sell us ice-creams at a price much higher than MRP with hug bargains. Depressing was the end of the day, but it was the first day and awaits the fun.
Day 2, we start our journey towards the beautiful Goa. Down towards Panjim and then further towards the Goan hills which led us to the silence and calmness of South Goa. Post lunch we reach the Palolem Beach and check in our accommodation, a few kilometers away from the beach as we didn't pre-book. Otherwise, its quite a nice place and a walk away from the beach, we find many different accommodations.
We accommodated in a homestay- Palolem Garden Estate, a gated society with a common pool, furnished apartment with the luxuries of a star rated hotel. It was a comfortable stay for the kind of group we were.
Settled, we had a nap and the evening enjoyed a mesmerizing view of the sun diving into the sea. The evening walk at the beach- now this was the clean and beautiful sand merging in the bright blue water.
The sun sets and the lights go up, under the lamps at the shacks we enjoy the fresh sea food. The sound of the water and the cool breeze- the perfect way to meditate! The day ends and again, we await yet another picturesque view.
Like it has happened till now, even again the morning was bright and next coming was a surprise. Ready for the experience, we get set into the cars and start off the drive, on way to the Agonda Beach.
A not so crowded beach with a long enough coastline to have a long walk hand in hand with your partner. Far away you walk down from the brown sand to the white with the blue waves tickling your feet. The beach is like a dream to live for the hydro-lovers. You can have yoga at the beach for the inner healing, a sun bath for the physical ailments and a quick snack at the shacks for your crave for good food.
After the lunch, a quick drive away is a scenic point- The Neptune Point or The Neptune Valley. Trek through the rocks or just stand at the sand, both the sides, the sunset is just amazing. For the photographer, it promises to give a million clicks and for the posers, its just the perfect background. Also, there's a cafe to have a quick evening snack with the changing sky and let the night begin.
The sun sets, the colours go dark and post a yummy dinner, we ended the day, yet again for a bigger plan.
Then comes the most exciting day and the most adventurous beach of all. All set in the morning, start off our drive to a secret beach. A heard story but not known about the facts, we drive following the GPS but at a point, loose the network. Guided by the locals, we drive on to a road moving down a hill, all rocky and muddy. The road gives a fear of ending up direct on to the sea with an excitement of exploring the untouched.
After the long run adventure, was the scene like never before. among all till now- The Cola Beach, this happened to be the real touch of nature. The never ending view- letting the eyes see deep, high sounds of the high waves making the ears all open, water just clean enough to have a deep touch, a smell of freshness cooking around making the tongue roll in a WOW. The beach kept everyone stunned with its virgin beauty. It justifies completely the long adventurous drive and finally gives a breath of sigh.
The beach as is not so popular, so remains very low on crowd or the shacks and also have quite higher waves than those on the other places. To keep a safer place to dive, is a backwater lagoon just on the other side of the sand and non-swimmers advised to feel the blues there. The shacks offer a decent food for all, but the lacking part was the proper changing rooms. The beach seems to be less enthusiastic for the visitors, but is surely a must have experience. A relaxing dip in the sea with a quick snack ended soon and we left back to catch the flight back to Delhi.
