30 minutes drive from Bogmalo beach through the Coast Guard premises in Chicolna will lead you to a fenced but jungle path, frequented by grazing cows. We were not aware of the road ahead so we had parked our car some 100 meters after crossing the premises. The road is slightly broken and rocky but you can drive through till you reach a forked path.
Huffing and puffing, we took the upwards path and reached the cliff which is also famous as ‘Yes Point or Suicide Point’. The cliff offers excellent top view of the small lagoon, which from an angle looks like a forlorn green heart. The lake is not very deep, filled with moss and weed. The cliff entices with an excellent unhindered view of the blue ocean and the horizon.
We decided to take the downward path towards the coastal line and we were greeted with blue foamy waves crashing on the rocks. The place is quite isolated so caution must be taken as the waves are quite high. The path involves slight rock climbing. The rocks have small snails and crabs as well. However, it is all worth the blissful view it has to offer. The concealed and less visited spot allows you to immerse yourself to be one with nature. The incessant waves crashing on the rocks and chirping of birds makes up for the idyllic experience. The coastal line dotted with coconut trees provides an outstanding photo opportunity.
While in Goa, do try to visit the Heart Shaped lake for offbeat experience. Please carry water bottles and ensure not to litter around. Also, mobile reception is weak as well the area is isolated so exercise precaution near the rocky coastal region.
