It is also known as Dharmachakra Centre and is believed to belong to the Karma Kagyu sect from Tibet. An important Gangtok tourist spot, Rumtek Monastery houses a golden stupa and also has a huge prayer hall where monks carry out elaborate prayers. From the top of this monastery, you get a breathtaking bird’s view of the entire city of Gangtok.
