Hey guys! So this time it is the Dayara Bugyal winter trek which was planned by the Thapar Adventure Club( Thapar University). We departed from Patiala at 8:30 in the eve and reached Raithal village at 9:00 am the next morning. There are 2 routes to Dayara meadows. One route is from Barsu and one is from Raithal. The Barsu route is much steeper and it had a lot of snow in winters which made it inaccessible. There was a little snow in Raithal amd it increased with every few meters.
The distance from Raithal to Dayara meadow is 7-8 kms via Gui. So our plan for today was to reach Gui and camp there for the night. Gui was 4 kms from Raithal. The trail was an easy one( not too much steep) but we had a lot of luggage to carry so it was a tough challenge in snow.
We were exhausted till we reached Gui. The trail was not very tough or risky but the snow level made it tough for us to walk. Till we reached Gui,we were already in 2.5-3 ft of snow. Gui was very charming!!
The night was very cold. The temperatures nearly dropped below -10°C. Bonfire did kept us alive. We woke up at 8 in the morning and started our trek further to the Dayara meadows. This trail was much easier than yesterday but the level of snow gradually increased from 3 ft to 5-6 ft. Dayara meadows were 3kms away from Gui. The last kilometre was little challenging.
And then finally we entered the Dayara meadows and it all the fatigue vanished in front of that majestic view! There were isolated Himalayan peaks right infront of us including Mt. Srikanth, Draupadi ka Danda, Gangotri Range, Black peak, Mt. Bandarpoonch.
The top of the meadow (Bakriya top) was not accessible due to excessive snow but somehow we tried as much as we can! But it was much more than we expected. We tried until snow came till our ribs! Then we called it off! However the beauty was much more than the regret.
