Beauty lies in tranquility. One of the most beautiful islands of Mediterranean Sea, Corsica is fully build up on the vintage European architecture with super modern lifestyle. The serenity of this place is incomparable.
Bastia was the city I visited in Corsica. Took a direct flight from Barcelona. Takes only an hour to reach here. You can rent a car to downtown Bastia or you can board the official bus that is available every hour from the airport.
(Make sure you book your hotel in advance as availability of hotel rooms in ON season is too less, I had to change my hotel every day)
Stayed at Hotel Posta Vecchia. Small and cozy, near the dock of Corsica Ferries, downtown market and the famous lighthouse. Location of this hotel was the best
Visited the museum where matargashti song from film tamasha was shot , the lighthouse and walked through the mustard themed streets of bastia .
Tip : Collect maps of this city from the Tourism Office when you visit it. Like a kid drawing from school, easy to read and very resourceful .
As I looked for the hotel the next day, this very generous lady from hotel Napolean made a call and reserved us a room here only when we told her that we are from India and she happens to love Indian food.
Beautiful , 3* property with view of the stunning Mediterranean Sea. Parking is available too here. It's near the rock beach . You can have a relaxing sunbath here
While my friend was asleep, I walked nearly two miles to the main city plaza where all the shops are to buy the multi pin charger, my walk with sea the was terrific but with no sign of a vehicle. My friend had to call up the hotel owner to pick me up on my way back. Well, that was an experience.
We checked out in the morning again, dropped our luggage by convincing a hotel to keep it. This whole we walked the streets of Bastia, explored every corner , must say an experience of a lifetime. Sat at the port at night with beautiful yatchs and saw a live band performance. Stayed at the most expensive hotel in a very poor maintained room, ( BOOK IN ADVANCE my best advice). I don't remember the name of the hotel even.
Thanks to Tamasha and Imitiaz Ali. Corsica is the place to be. Must visit.
