Day 1

Everytime I saw pictures of the igloo stay in Finland I always wished and fantasized that some day I would stay in there.

Like they say wishes do come true, mine came true this winter holiday when we stayed at Kakslauttanen..

Though the stay is very comfortable and magical there are some things that you should be mindful of coz not everyone talks about the hardships..

We traveled from Rovaniemi to Kakslauttanen by Bus and we got off at the bus station which was right outside the east wing of the resort however since it had been snowing since couple of days the level of snow was really high.

1 - There is no assistance or sign board stating where is the entry so you just have to randomly start walking in the snow dragging your bags which wasn't easy at all (we were traveling 3 countries we had 2 big bags and 2 backpacks)
Considering the luggage this din appeal to us at all, plus it was evening time and was dark.

2 - Check in was easy, we were asked to immediately go for our dinner coz the restaurant shut around 8pm. The dinner was really amazing, staff really friendly and it was a warm and beautiful dine in.

3 - There is no assistance or help with the baggages so you need to take them yourself. Theres a sleigh you can use that to pull/push your luggage. Again it was dark and snowing, the resort is huge and covered with snow, no sign boards visible no staff or help around to guide. Was like walking in the unknown. And amidst all this the sleigh handle breaks 😏 Not at all helpful, couldn't go further couldn't go back. Somehow managed to pull the sleigh with a rope that was attached. The bridge that your supposed to cross was covered in Snow and there was no sign whatsoever showing thats the bridge.. And no soul around to guide. This was the most disappointing part of all.
You have just arrived with luggage and there's no sort of help or assistance, very disappointed.

4 - Somehow made it to the Igloo, though it was snowing and freezing temperatures we were sweating, so you could imagine the struggle in pulling the bags in snow with those sleighs.

5 - After reaching the Igloo, from this point on everything is just beautiful and magical. The Igloo itself was warm and nicely set up. There's a small kitchenette and a small washroom (no shower)
The beds are recliner beds you can adjust to your liking.
The room has an alarm box which rings if there is Northern lights visibility. (which unfortunately we Din get to see due to heavy snowfall)

6 - Breakfast in the morning was really good too, if your staying for more than a day there are plenty of activities to do in the resort itself, there's a sauna, you could do the Reindeer or husky rides (book in advance they get booked quickly)

Overall it was an amazing stay very beautiful and magical experience.

Pro Tip - During Winters and snow, Avoid bigger luggage bags
