Cherai Beach - Maybe Known,Maybe Not!!

Tripoto
26th Dec 2019

This is one trip that happened just randomly for me. I had some 10 holidays left which I had to exhaust before the year ends and scrolling through multiple options near Bangalore landed me to the description of Cherai Beach.

Though not much of a beach lover (BTW this notion has changed now 😆), decided to give it a shot as I just didn't want my leaves to be wasted sitting at home.

The search for booking the tickets stared.

Since mine was a last minute plan hence all the trains were booked. But incase you plan to take the trains, you will have to travel till Ernakulam and from there either can rent a vehicle till Cherai Beach (Cherai is 29km from Ernakulam South Junction).

Transportation

We took a bus, booked on redbus.in which departed from Bangalore at 10:30 PM and arrived at Vythilla Junction Mobility Hub at around 7:00 AM

Post our traditional Kerela breakfast of Puttu and Kadala curry we crossed the road and with the help of kind hearted and soft spoken locals boarded the bus to Pallimukku, since we had to pick our booked rented 2 wheeler from Fort Kochi . There is no direct connectivity from Vythilla to Fort Kochi hence we had to switch 2 buses:

Vythilla Mobility Hub - Pallimukku - from Pallimukku take the Naval Base bus which drops you at Fort Kochi

Total bus fare for 2 was rs. 46 😀

We picked our booked 2 wheeler from Royal Brothers Bike Rental Company and headed to our destination. Took a short ferry ride from Fort Cochin to Vyapin which was economical and less time consuming to reach Cherai Beach(within 10 mins we were at Vyapin and from there headed to our home stay Oceanview Beach Resort.

Stay

We stayed at Oceanview Beach Resort, a budget friendly hotel with an amazing view. You open the balcony and see the ocean right from the balcony , such a serene and calm view. To be at the beach we just had to cross the road..it was simply amazing.

Food

When it comes to food, it is a bit on the expensive side considering we had sea food.

However the taste is simply awesome. We had food at the hotel itself and then to get the local taste we tried the food at a small hut right opposite Heaven Resort. It is run by 4 humble ladies and taste is really nice, though we ended up paying rs. 500 for 1 plate squid, 1 plate prawns, 1 fish fry, 2 thalis.

We went to explore the beach and ended up exploring a beautiful and serene place. The drive on that road was heavenly.

This was the end of our 2 day trip in Cherai and we headed to Fort Kochi after this.

A glimpse/photos of the Cherai Beach will be uploaded in the Cherai Photo Blog.
