Hi guys !! I'll be sharing my 10 day plan to cover ubud, bali and gili islands. This is to give you an idea of how the days can be divided to cover all the places.
We took a train from bangalore to ernakulam. Our flight was on 9th from Kochi International Airport and we took an overnight train to kochi on 8th.
We got down at Ernakulam station on 9th morning and checked into a hotel for the day. Later we took a bus to Marine drive, kochi. From there you can get a ferry to reach Fort Kochi.
We booked an auto to show us around for 2 hours and finally drop us at a restaurant.
Later around 5 we got back to our hotel. Packed up and left for airport at 6.
Our flight was scheduled at 11 for which we had to reach 3 hours early.
We reached Kuala Lumpur at around 4 in the morning. Post which we settled down and waited for my friend to arrive from Delhi.
Our next flight was at 4 in the evening. We killed our time by exploring the airport shops and food joints. Most of them serve non veg meal. Mc D and burger king weren't having any veg options available to my friends disappointment. There is one Indian food joint , bit heavy on the pocket you can score a veg meal there and survive the lay over.
We reached Denpasar at 6:30 and had to wait in line for an hour and a half to get our visa formalities done. They don't ask you much apart from the return tickets and passport. It was smooth.
Fill a custom form and you are through. We had our pickup waiting for us at the airport. The guy was very friendly and gave us a brief about Bali as it was our first time.
We reached our villa in ubud around 10. Post which the care taker gave us a round of the place . We were dead tired and retired early that day.
We got up in the morning and our breakfast had been prepared .
We spent the day by visiting the nearby ubud market and ubud palace. Also booked for Mt Batur trek for the next day.
We didn't sleep the entire night as we had to start at 2:30 in the morning for trek.
This is a volcano trek which provides you with visual treat once you reach at the top in time for the sunrise. Only negative point is the trek is too crowded.
Traffic jam didn't leave us even here.
We came back in the afternoon back to our villa and were so tired that nothing was planned for the rest of the day.
I lost my phone last night and all my hopes went down the drain cause now we were leaving for gili islands and it was time to accept that it wasn't coming back.
We had booked for 11 o'clock private boat to Gili , considering it would be faster way to travel . We estimated to reach around 2 but guess what, we arrived in gili at 8.
Plan accordingly guys cause you end up wasting an entire day in commuting.
Only relief was our hostel . Which was one of the best I have stayed in. It was modern and chic with a swimming pool and karaoke.
I'll provide more details in my next post.
We went for dinner in a local market at night. The place was bustling with food vendors serving all kinds of sea food . We found the food too oily and couldn't enjoy our first meal in Gili.
Booked a snorkeling tour for morning 10 . It covers all three Gilis and this was my first time snorkeling. Water is so clear that you end up falling in love. Looking at the vast variety of marine life with bollywood music in the background is something you don't think of in a foreign land.
We went for a movie by the beach at night.
Due to some error on my part during booking, I booked the place for only two days and had to book for another hostel for the remaining one day. This resulted in wasting crucial time. We had to vacate our place at 11 and check in at new hostel at 2 . Hence, we couldn't plan to go anywhere. We ended up spending our time by the beach and window shopping.
I went to the Turtle conservation centre where the turtles are kept until they are fit enough to survive on their own . They are transferred in the ocean during a ceremony.
In the evening we made sure to get our picture clicked at the swings. It's the most instagrammable place in Gilis.
The boat ride is so tiring that you can hardly do anything for the rest of the day.
Booked a cab for an entire day .
We were able to cover only these three places in a day. Plan accordingly , cause it takes a lot of time to travel from one place to other.
We earlier planned to go to nusa penida on our last day. But honestly everyone was so tired and wanted a day off to just relax.
We didn't want to rush anything and decided to just sit back and enjoy our last day here as everyone wished to. We got up late. I went for surfing lessons at Kuta beach.
They had quirky names for the surf schools.
I came back, freshened up and went for lunch . A huge burger with a margarita helped .
In the evening we went out to buy some souvenirs for everyone. Had dinner and headed to seminyak beach.
Perfect place to end our trip. We sat there cribbing about the office and work waiting for us back home and reminiscing the good times spent. Watched the waves shine and the planes land for a long time.
Got up at 3 in the morning to reach at airport in time for our flight.
We were already missing Bali but every good thing comes to an end.
Hoping to have more adventures !!
Will share more about the experiences, stay and expenditure in my upcoming blogs.
Keep Travelling !!
