When many of us think of Egypt, the iconic landscape of the ancient pyramids is one of the first things that comes to mind. The complex structures have baffled and fascinated archaeologists for years and even today, new discoveries are being made about them!
The astrology team of Julius-Maximilians-Universität of Würzburg unveiled the hidden chambers of the Pyramid of Sahure, which was built more than 4,400 years ago in honour of Pharaoh Sahure of the Fifth Dynasty!
About the Pyramid of Sahure
According to the reports, this pyramid was built to honour Sahura (also known as Sahure), the second king of the Fifth Dynasty, during the late 26th to 25th centuries BC. His reign was characterised by remarkable peace and prosperity, marked by flourishing trade with foreign nations, advancements in naval technology, and the establishment of mines, among other achievements!
The modern scientists have once again ventured inside this ancient marvel after more than a century since 1907!
How To Reach
Sahure is located in the golden area of Abusir which was the first pyramid to be made there after the creation of the dun temple of King Userkaf. It was home to the cult of Ra where the temple of Ra in the city of Heliopolis can be seen from there.

Objective
The team's initial objective was to stabilise the pyramid's substructure to prevent further deterioration. They leveraged cutting-edge 3D laser scanning technology to meticulously document both the expansive external regions and the intricate internal passages and chambers of the pyramid. This comprehensive approach revealed a hidden corridor leading to eight previously unknown storage rooms!
Though the storage rooms have suffered significant damage to their ceilings and floors, the contents within remain a tantalising mystery! During the restoration process, the team sought to strike a balance between preserving structural integrity and making these rooms accessible for future research, potentially even for public engagement.
The team's discoveries are anticipated to shed light on the unresolved mysteries surrounding Sahura's Pyramid, offering insights into its construction and the secrets concealed within its chambers! This breakthrough promises to challenge existing paradigms in pyramid structure development and historical understanding.
