This traditional market located in eastern part of Dubai (Deira) is known as The Spice Soul or Old Souk. It is adjacent to Gold Souk.
Though Dubai is known for its tall buildings , legendary shopping malls , happening parties and much more ,the actual charm of the city I was able to experience in Deira(Old Dubai).
It was mesmerizing to see the rainbow colored Spices across the market and the aroma in this place surely gonna satisfy your senses.
This market is a must visit spot to taste the Dubai of days gone by. Indeed, the souks did not disappoint, and I recommend you explore them, too, should you find yourself in Dubai.
The aromatic Spice Market is spread across narrow alleys with closed roofs and mounds of colorful herbs ,spices and nuts is a common yet satisfying sight.
A majority of the trading occurs through Haggling. Haggling is easier when purchasing in bulk. Tasting and smelling is encouraged in these quaint stores.
This market is full of beautiful souvenir shops, handcrafted kitchenwares and clothing stalls. Another beautiful thing you would see here are the colorful hanging lanterns .The Designs surely took my heart away. Honestly I felt like buying everything but I was on a budget trip , so I controlled myself. I know it's kinda difficult :p
I visited Dubai in beginning of January and I think it's the best time to plan a trip to Dubai.
Summers in Dubai are unbearable. The air is steamy during summer ,and it's kind of impossible to sustain especially for tourists.
When in Deira , donot forget to take Abra Ride, it's right opposite to The Spice Souk.
Abra Ride is the cheapest boat ride in entire Dubai and trust me it's one of the best things to do. (This ride is used mainly by locals for daily commutation and it is cheap as 1 Dirham from one station to other )
I didn't shop anything from these alluring market , but what about you?
Would you be tempted to buy stuff from this vibrant place?
And let me know in comment section whether wandering here was fun or no;)
