Well it was beautiful morning on the day of Makar Sankranti dated 15 January 2019. My parents, sister's family and one of friend's family had started our drive from my hometown Moran in Dibrugarh, Assam. It had been a beautiful sunny day while crossing the mighty river Brahmaputra over the newly inaugurated Bogibeel bridge with a length of 4.9 kms approx. The Brahmaputra is wide enough to prove it's worth as the name says.
After a drive of 2 hours and completing 74 kms thorough the natural beauties such as rivers, water ponds, village huts and especially the Orange Gardens of Likabali and the local roadside shops of fresh Oranges from the nearby gardens; we reached at Malini Than as the locals named of the place and nameplate on the roadside Mandir of Shiva.
Now starts the walk to the bottom of the hill where the waterfall Akashi Ganga flows to the river.
One have to walk down 793 steps to reach the destination. There's one more Shiva Temple prior to few steps to the bottom.
On the day of Makar Sankranti, it's a place of pilgrimage. Devotees come for bath on the waterfall with the believe that Akashi Ganga washes away all their sins then they offer prayers to the lord Shiva.
