That’s how my weekend started post lock-down.
After being locked in an apartment for over 2.5 months, being cranky, complaining about the pandemic, observing the healing of nature from the window and going through the old photographs, I could actually hit the winding road, embrace the healing nature and breathe under the open sky. This weekend escape was so liberating.
I’ve been yearning to escape the daily melancholy since long. After reading that Denmark is partially lifting up the lock-down, I couldn’t stop myself to plan an escape to tranquility.
The pandemic fear didn’t allow us to trust the public transport hence, we planned a short road trip to a nearby hamlet in our private cars.
On a Friday afternoon, after winding up our daily chores, we started our journey to an unknown land — Kramnitse, Lolland.
Lolland is an infamous island in Denmark.
We booked a summer house from a site called Novasol which offers a variety of summer cottages to travelers with different preferences, across the entire Europe.
It took around 2 hours to reach the quaint place. And the next 3 days were spent around a serene locale in absolute peace and tranquility.
This particular trip, that the pandemic forced me to undertake, made me realize that it doesn’t take me to roam and explore around a particular place to be happy and enjoy a trip, I can savour each and every moment of a trip without going out, with only a cup of coffee, a good book, a company of some friends sharing the house together, cooking, laughing, jumping around, playing, drinking and spending quality time.
We, kind of, locked up ourselves in the summer house for the 3 days and still managed to relish each and every minute of the weekend trip.
The fear of contamination resulting from free movement in crowded public areas made us set our feet outside the sanitized summer cottage only once on Sunday evening, to watch the setting sun kissing the sea horizon that treated us with a glorious view amidst a blissful dusky surrounding.
It wasn’t a trip to explore places but a step closer to the peace of mind and a journey closer towards solitude.
Following are some of the precautionary measures that were taken to avoid the contagious pandemic:
1. Carried our own bed, pillow & duvet covers.
2. Carried our own toilet papers & kitchen towels.
3. Carried lots of liquid hand soap containers and hand sanitizers.
4. Of-course carried our own toiletries & stuffs.
5. Carried our own edible stuffs for breakfast, lunch, snacks & supper and the drinks too.
6. Thoroughly washed all the utensils before cooking/eating, with warm water and a strong dish-washing liquid.
7. Went to the washroom straight away upon reaching the summerhouse to sanitize ourselves before touching anything/anybody.
8. Spraying a disinfectant everywhere, before starting to use the summer house.
Kindly note: It's already been more than a week that we came back from our 1st outing post lock-down and no one complained of being sick. We all are doing well :)
