Tucked away from the chaos of busy city life, this boutique stay in Dehradun could be your next refreshing change!
Located right in the center of the city, Mango Tree Courtyard Dehradun is a blend of beauty, style and luxury. It has to be the highlight of our trip. Me and Maddy wanted to escape for the weekend before heading back home and that's when we decided to head to Dehradun.
When we were looking for our stay we stumbled upon Mango Tree Courtyard, we went through all the reviews, pictures and we were sure to try this beautiful boutique stay. Hidden away from the throngs of hustle bustle of the city, set up in a colonial style, I was so glad this place was so spacious and beautiful.
From the moment we stepped into Mango Tree Courtyard, we were in awe of the architecture and how thoughtfully the interiors were planned, making the whole place instagrammable.
How to Reach - We drove from Delhi (275kms). It took us 4-4.5 hrs. Alternatively, you can also take a train - Dehradun Shatabdi, which leaves from New Delhi at 6am and reaches Dehradun at 1pm. It is hardly 10-15 mins drive from the station.
We reached Dehradun at noon time and it wasn’t tough locating Mango Tree as it is hardly 5 mins drive from the Clock Tower. We were welcomed by Neeraj (the host) and Charu (Neeraj’s wife & Architect), they showed us around and told us all about the place. It felt so nice hearing them talk about the place so passionately.
Mango Tree Courtyard is a 125 years old property, it's very recent that they converted the place into a boutique stay with 10 rooms. This is the new age way to stay and Pandemic was the right time as people were looking for luxury places on a small scale to avoid the crowd where things can be personalized.. Not just this but Mango Tree Courtyard is perfect for Workcation, as one can customize things according to convenience, one can avail healthy home cooked indian meals and use the open area to their advantage.
Interiors
Maddy is a lot into interiors and home decor, he could not stop praising the color combinations and the unique touches. The Gothic arches, french windows clubbed with Indian pattern. It was all so picturesque. The interior of the homestay blends in beautifully with the contemporary touches that have been added.
There are so many places where one can just sit in nature, get some sunlight and align all the distracted thoughts.
Relax. Unwind. Just Be…
Rooms
All the rooms are named after different varieties of mangoes. Just like each mango has a unique taste and flavor, every room has a different feel and character. Our room was named Alphanso and it had these cute curtains with Rajasthani prints, king size bed and the right amount of sunlight peeking in through the window. It was peaceful, cozy and airy.
The best was the washroom (I love when the washrooms are big and spacious) and it had so much natural light coming in. We hardly spent much time in our room as we wanted to soak in the beauty of this place.
Food
The best part about Mango Tree Courtyard is the fresh home cooked meals made from homegrown ingredients. Being a health conscious person, I get little specific with food and I didn’t have to worry at all here, instead I loved how plain, simple and basic the meals here were. Just like Ghar ka khana.
You can customize if you feel like having something, the staff is very accommodating and they will surprise you with flavors. The holistic experience of food & care you will find here will make you come back for more!
Activities
If you are visiting with family or planning to stay here for long, you can also check out a few activities that Mango Tree conducts. And these activities are actually something that greases the bond and adds fun, you can also personalize them according to who you are traveling with.
1. Mango Picking from the fresh farm in the season, learn a recipe or two using the fresh mangoes.
2. Private Picnic - Take some time to just relax in the sun, read a book and enjoy your time.
3. Rooftop Bonfire and Barbeque - Who doesn’t love Bonfire & Barbeque when with friends, with such vast space, you can plan a evening full of games, music and good food
4. Yoga Session - If you are someone like me who doesn’t like to miss their Yoga practice even on holidays, then Mango Tree Courtyard has your back. You can request a session if you want to try one. I decided to use the space and the sunlight to my benefit and had such a good time with my mat.
Pet Friendly
We know how most of the people are fond of dogs but they struggle a lot in finding good Pet friendly places while booking an accommodation. All you need to do is pack your bags and off you go with your laptop. You have a pet that needs to be taken care of, fret not take him/her along!
Mango Tree Courtyard is a pet friendly place, I met the sweetest dog here, Pablo. He is the cutest, calmest pet I have ever met. You would also notice cats sneaking in from the courtyard walls and lazing around in the Sun.
You can bring your pet if you are planning to stay for long and don’t want to leave your pet behind. There is so much open space inside the stay that your pet would love it.
Our experience with Mango Tree Courtyard Dehradun was pretty good, beyond my expectations I would say. Every corner of Mango Tree Courtyard is filled with character, charm and light. I was happy that I could spend some quality time with Maddy, we relaxed and we talked. Mango Tree has such a peaceful and happy vibe to it that you would love it if you are coming with your partner or family or even if you are coming by yourself for WFH. It is like Home away home.
It's an ideal work from anywhere option for many who choose to utilize their time in a stress-free environment. Mango Tree Courtyard is absolutely delightful for those looking for a unique experience.
