So you are in Dehradun, and you got a free weekend now you are confused about how to spend your weekend???
So let me help you.
If you are in Dehradun and got a free weekend, you should take a trip to Rishikesh. Rishikesh is just 1-2 hour away from Dehradun, and you would regret if you miss your chance to visit the world capital of yoga, Rishikesh.
There are a lot of places which you can visit in Rishikesh and a lot of things which you can do from adventures to trying different foods. The cafés of Rishikesh are very famous for their delicacies.
People from different parts of the world come to Rishikesh to know their true selves and dwelling into spirituality.
So we left for Rishikesh at around 3pm in the evening and reached Rishikesh at 4:30pm. We had planned to do river rafting for the next day, so we had already booked our camp and rafting a day before reaching Rishikesh.
The camp was some distance away from the main road so we had to walk and we were so tired after reaching our campsite. But all our tiredness went away as soon as we realized that we had a pool in our camp.😅
So after keeping our bags in our designated camps, we got in the pool as there was not so much crowd that day, so we were the only people inside the lake, and we enjoyed a lot. After that, we had our dinner and played some games and then slept late after partying.
Our rafting was scheduled in the morning, but as well all slept late, we couldn't wake up early in the morning, so our rafting was rescheduled in the afternoon. So after having our breakfast, we went ahead with our plan of river rafting. And believe me, you would enjoy the adventure. Our river rafting was of 16 km and started from Shivpuri; you can also book it for 26km or 35km as per your convenience. Proper equipment and instructions were provided to us. And we had an instructor with us who guided us along the way. We halted in between our rafting and did cliff jumping too. We were exhausted but happy that we did it.
After rafting, we went back to the camp and changed our clothes, picked up our bags, and left the camp.
We visited Lakshman jhula, Ram jhula, and spend some time watching the Ganga Arti, which was a mesmerizing experience.
We booked a hotel and slept after having dinner. It was a long tiring day.
The next day we decided to visit the famous Beatles ashram. We took an auto from our hotel to the Beatles ashram. The place has a timing of 10 am to 4 pm and has an entry ticket. The ashram is famous as the Beatles band stayed here in the 60s and now features art and graffiti.
This ashram is worth visiting. You would get to see the old architecture and graffiti, and altogether it would be a wonderful experience.
