2019 being a rough year, I was in a desperate need of vacation and Vietnam was in my bucket list since long. After some research found two way flight from Kolkata to Hanoi in 15k and booked it without giving a second thought.
Applied for approval letter, which costed me $8 and got in 2 days. As I would be returning from Hanoi, selected to visit north and central part, made rough itinerary of Hanoi- Halong bay- Danang- Hoi An- Hanoi- Sapa - Ninh Binh- Hanoi- Kolkata, download few apps like grab, Booking.com, klook and started my trip with a backpack.
Reached Hanoi in the evening, applied for Visa on Arrival for $25 (fyi, evisa cost $25 & no approval letter needed). Booked grab and headed to my hostel in Old quater.
Halong bay Day tour - Rs.2800 (included pickup & drop from hostel, explore halong bay, lunch in boat, explore Thien Cung cave, Kayaking or banboo ride)
Next day, got picked up at 7:30am. After driving for almost 04 hours, reached Halong city harbor and boarded wooden boat for Halong bay.
Day 03 - Flight to Danang, booked shuttle from Danang airport to Hoi An. Didnt planned anything for the day. Rented a bicycle and went to beach to relax a bit. Visited night market in the evening.
Day 06 - Met some friends in Hoi An & they insisted to visit Ho Chi Minh city, said it is very different from Hanoi. Stayed in Danang, visited Marble mountains & some local sightseeing.
Day 08 - My Drom mates were going to Dalat next day, made sudden plan to accompany them and ended up staying in Dalat for 2nights.
Day 13 - My plan for last day was local sightseeing, relaxing time, water puppet show in the evening.
Day 14 - Did some shopping and headed to Hanoi International Airport.
Day 05 - Booked a tour for Bana hills. Entrance ticket - 750,000vnd, includes cable ride, Golden bridge, amusment park (Sun World) with free rides and arcade games, French village.
Day 07- Booked a flight to Ho Chi Minh City.
Skipped Mekong Delta & Chu Chi Tunnels, did local sightseeing. For the evening, booked dinner on the cruise across Saigon river.
Day - 12. Initial plan was to reach hanoi and board a train for Ninh Binh, was a bit tired, so stayed at Hanoi & booked day tour for Tam Coc & Hoa Lu -Rs.1600 (pickup & drop, buffet lunch included).
Skipped Mekong Delta & Chu Chi Tunnels, did local sightseeing. For the evening, booked dinner on the cruise across Saigon river.
Day 10 - Returned Ho Chi Minh City, my friends were going to Cambodia & i was returning to Hanoi. Already booked a transfer to Sapa, upon arriving at Hanoi airport, headed towards Old quater to catch shuttle bus.
Day 11 - Day was spent on trekking. Lao Chai & Ta Va Village day tour - Rs.1700 (Lunch included).
Exhausted after trek, spent the evening sleeping.
Day 07- Booked a flight to Ho Chi Minh City.
