The Christiansborg Palace, located on the island of Slotsholmen, was built in the 1730s, replacing the old Copenhagen Castle. It was later razed in a fire in 1794, but the east wing was rebuilt by the early nineteenth century. In 1907, King Frederik VIII laid the cornerstone of the third Christiansborg palace. After the completion of the third palace, the national parliament and the Supreme Court moved into its new chambers.

In the mid-1970s, Christian IX was buried here, and the statue of the king was unveiled in 1780. It was a monumental achievement for the king. The building, which dates back to 1745, features two Rococo pavilions either side of the Marble Bridge. The tower reaches 106 meters. The Christiansborg Palace is a fascinating place to visit.
