I was flying to an European destination by SAS which gave me a 8 hour layover in Copenhagen and I for one could not stay at the airport. I took a train from the Copenhagen airport to get to the Central station and walk around the city admiring the beauty of Copenhagen.
Nyhavn meaning New Harbor in Danish is the most iconic spot in all of Copenhagen. It's the perfect spot to hangout and mingle with other tourists and also the plave to go on a boat tour in the canals of Copenhagen.
Nyhavn is a 17th century waterfront and entertainment district that is lined with bright colored bars and townhouses and is filled with thousands of wooden boats of all kinds and classes. I joined a boat tour that takes people around Copenhagen offering unparalleled views of the city.
After the boat tour, I had a few more hours to kill and I set out on a stroll along the cobbled stone streets of the city. It was a perfect summer day and there were throngs of people enjoying sunshine in sun starved streets of Copenhagen (for more parts of the year)
As the sun started fading, I briskly walked towards the royal Danish palace, the Amalienborg palace before I headed back to the airport.
I watched the royal guards march along the streets of Copenhagen earlier in the day, towards the palace.
A brisk stroll to the palace and then back to the Copenhagen central station to get to the airport.
8 hours very well spent seeing the famous sights of this beautiful city in stead of getting stuck at the airport
