I was visiting Mysuru and on the recommendation of my friends I decided to visit a very famous hill station of Karnataka known as Kodagu, or Coorg. It is also known as Scotland of India because of abundance of greenery surrounding this small little hill station. This beautiful hill station situated approximately 206 km from Mysuru is a perfect long weekend destination from Mysuru.
Day-1
I proceeded to Coorg from Mysuru early in the morning and my first stop was Namdroling Monastery a very famous and beautiful monastery situated on the way to Coorg. This Monastery was established by His Holiness Pema Norbu Rinpoche and it is situated in Bylakuppe in Mysuru district of Karnataka.
After witnessing the grandeur of this monastery I started my journey back to Coorg and reached to this beautiful hill station in the afternoon. After check-in in hotel I decided to take some rest.
Then at around 4:00 O'clock I quickly took a shot of famous coffee of Coorg ( made with so much love) and proceeded to a very popular tourist spot known as Raja's Seat so witness the Sun-set.
Though I could not see the Sun-set completely because of clouds ..still the spectacular views of valley and cool breeze refreshed me from within.
In the evening I decided to explore the local market and purchased lot of things such as local home made wines , spices and other Ayurvedic stuffs and most important Coorg Coffee. My bags were full but stomach was empty so rushed to one restaurant so calm down my tummy. Now I was ready to take a good night sleep.
Day-2
Next day after breakfast I hopped on my car and moved to explore first temple known as Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple.
Next in the list was Talakaveri, place considered to be the source of the river Kaveri.
After this I had my lunch and proceeded to Abbey water fall. You have to walk a little bit to witness this beautiful water fall.
Next was Omkareshwara Temple, dedicated to lord Shiva.
At the end of the day..........I was exhausted but at the same time very happy to see such beautiful places.
Day-3
Before leaving this beautiful place I decided to do one more must do of this place " Visit to a Spice Garden" and really it was very interesting.
Now I know why it is called as Scotland of India. So if you haven't visited this place till now make your plan soon.............
