Day 1

What are the chances that you make a random plan for a trip and reluctantly choose a popular hotspot near bangalore and end up discovering a gem of a place

This was one such trip . Generally I am choosy , I do enough research before I choose a place .And so I did enough research before heading to coorg . It was my first trip to coorg and I chose to stay in a home stay rather than a conventional hotel .

We visited coorg in the month of august. It was monsoon then . It was a three day trip. We basically wanted a secluded place to unwind. We chose Victorian Verandaz. A enchanting colonial era cottage amidst a 100 acre coffee plantation.

It had a rustic look and feel to it. Since it is in the middle of a coffee plantation you wouldn’t find anything around . Except the owner stays a little away from the cottages. He brings in piping hot coorgi breakfast everyday through out your stay . It had a well equipped kitchen . So if you have the essentials you could cook .

The best part , you may not get network. You could either choose to go around the usual places of interest or choose to explore the plantation.

There’s a natural water fall which runs through estate . The owner takes you on a plantation walk every morning along with their two dogs .

Since it was monsoon , everything around was covered with greenery . It gives you a refreshing feeling as you walk through the plantation . Especially if you take a walk right after a spell of rain .

We explored the plantation in the evening , listening to the sound of crickets, birds and other insects . Sat on the porch enjoying the night far away from bustle . It was just the chilly breeze and the fireflies to keep us company .

Day 2

We woke up the sound of rain drops and the bird chirping the next day . We decided to go for a walk in the plantation . It was one off a kind of experience learning about the different varieties of coffee seeds , the way they are harvested . We even got to see some trails of jumbos who visited the plantation to feast on the plantains . They even have a tiny cottage which exhibits the various things related to coffee plantations.

That day we decided to explore the places nearby , there was a tiny hamlet and a waterfall nearby .

The monsoon added to the beauty of the places.

The rustic charm of this place takes your mind to a trippy ride. The place grows on you and it has an everlasting effect on you even after you leave
