In my last blog, I mentioned inside out how I explored Sim's park of Coonoor but coming to the details, this particular park of 12 hectares is a place that holds many wow spots with exclusive trees, shrubs, herbs and flowering plants. And most importantly, the arches, dooms, the pruned shapes of plants attract any visitor's eye instantly. The same thing happened to me and I couldn't restrict myself to capturing almost all of them and I'm sure I must have missed a few because it's hard to cover the whole premises inch to inch in one single visit.
Every tree that was planted centuries and decades ago maintains a lettered plate that describes the history of the tree. I found the elephant leg tree and Rudraksha tree amazing because of their rare nature. It's hard to find such trees and they could survive only because of the temperatures of hill stations. Also, one can find almost all varieties of wood trees planted everywhere as the borders to the sections of the park.
The greenhouse is that one lovely indoor spot amidst the whole exterior of the park that holds plants of various varieties with their names attached which makes people understand easily about the type of plants they should consider keeping indoors at their homes. I have spent most of the time over here. And the route to this greenhouse also looks dreamy because of the stairs that were constructed from the rose garden all over the elevated steep.
One can go from either side of the park to reach the greenhouse. Also, all the routes in the park are interconnected with palatial arches that are made out of pruned plants. One can rest on the benches and dooms that are constructed all over the park. You can capture lovely pictures in the park and there are special packages available at the ticket counter for photography, videography, and all the photo sessions.
You can walk around the park and you can grab enormous knowledge about plants and trees. They mention everything about the existence of plants in that park on boards every here and there. The premises is so vast that you may get lost easily. So make sure you track yourself down, if not you end up at the same place many times. There's a trick to explore precisely where one has to notice the type of trees they plant. This park has four sections; boating is at the end, the rose garden is at the right, a pond of lilies at the left corner, grasslands and vast premises in the middle and a greenhouse at the upside of the steep that leads to the paths of exit.
Throughout the exit routes, you find exotic plants of rare species with rare flowers. I couldn't resist capturing the beauty of all those flowers and those huge and rare trees. It was altogether a fun and knowledgeable experience that I could never forget. Instead of just exploring this place as a park, if you explore it as a botanical garden, you can learn a lot. If you visit with your friends, then it will be fun if everyone stays excited to know about the flora of Ooty and Coonoor. If you visit with your family or kids, then you can learn and also make your kids have a good excursion in the middle of your hill station vacation.
