If you planning for first solo trip you have to try your state place because you will be full enjoy and you will plan for next also and try hostel stay.
First off, my heartiest congratulations to you for taking The Step. Solo travelling might sound super scary but personally, I think that you should start from home to break that notion. Work your way outwards and cover all that you can. Narrow lanes, smelly streets, cramped shops etc. Trust me, your perspective is about to have a total makeover after you start looking at the regular stuff through the eyes of an explorer. Once you know your city, you'll know how to deal with it's various aspects-- the streets as well as the posh areas. That is when, I belive, you'll be ready to step outside. Then again, follow the same rule: work your way outwards an cover all that you can. I hope this helped :) Happy Exploring!!😄
