When Sukesh and I decided to hit it up to the deserts we really weren't sure how to be prepared for it. We have always been the two guys who jump into the ocean and learn our way to swim out, in fact it makes me wonder how we began this trip.
Just booking a one way flight ticket to the Americas and leaving without any money in the pocket but eyes filled with dreams and optimism!
We struggled and hustled and more than anything trusted each other and the result is this trip!
This picture pretty much sums up what our usual end of the day moments are like: both of us riding till sun down , kicking some dust , wrapping up the day by having a good laugh and reflecting on how the day went.
We are 2 crazy lads who dreamt with our eyes open and from the place where we come from dreams DO come true.
After some roughing out in Punta Gallinas we were hitting the west coast of Colombia to make our way back to Medellin to find some interesting human stories.
This is when Sukesh’s bike started acting up! You see in a big journey like this we do face a lot of motorcycle issues and it is part of the trip! Because we were riding super fast in the desert we did hit a couple of bumps and that somehow has messed up his oil seal and the oil kept leaking!
The next nearest town is another 150kms away and I have just 1 liter of engine oil in my bag! This is the same oil I carried all the way from India which Sukesh kept mocking saying its so easy to find oils everywhere. Why are you carrying 2 cans with you everywhere I guess I was secretly wishing this situation would arrive and I wanted to look right through his eyes and say I told you so!
Jokes aside since we had our Castrol Power1 so we kept topping up the oil till we reached a mechanic shop where the guy took 2 days to fix the problem in sukesh’s bike.
Those were the days we realised how much our body is aching.
We started riding to the coffee region of Colombia after this and made our way to Ecuador border post.
