As I remember and write about this cruise I feel no less than Rose from Titanic, except maybe much younger and instead of having to remember 70 years in the past I just have to think back to 4 days. Well without much ado let me begin.
The cruise M V Kavarati begun on the 6th of January 2019 at 11 am from Ernakulam Wharf, Cochin the procedure for checking in was similar to that of an airport with baggage check in and boarding passes we were also given I cards for identification. Now you have to understand that we paid 30k for a 3 day cruise so I did not expect a lot from it, however to my surprise the trip was more than delightful. This was my first cruise trip and I was quite taken by the deck so right after keeping our bags and freshening up we headed straight to the deck and enjoyed the cool wind and the serene waters. Watching the celestial waters had a calming effect on us and we also spotted flying fish and dolphins throughout the cruise. The first day was all about exploring the ship. The crew went out of their way to make a every passenger comfortable and at ease. The helped in every possible way and did so with a smile on their face. Breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner were provided by the cruise and the food was surprisingly good and we had decent amount of variety. Watching the waters at night was even more enchanting.
Day 2 was my favorite of the lot. We started our day at 6:30am with coffee and tea (they provided sugar free beverages on demand and once they knew there were diabetics with us they simply added an extra container of sugar free tea for them) provided by the ship and then headed to the deck to watch sunrise post which we had a hearty breakfast. We disembarked at 8am and headed to the virgin island Mini Coy. We were taken to a lighthouse in minicoy which was founded in 1855, 285 steps to the top of the lighthouse reveals a 360 view of the island and boy was it worth every single step. Don't believe me just have a look at the below pictures. Stark difference in color of the ocean depending on the depth of the water made it even more enchanting. We then headed to what I believe is the most beautiful beach that I will ever get to see. The pristine waters were a treat to my eyes. Kayaking and snorkeling was a part of the trip and we availed it to the fullest. Lakshadweep is a coral island and through snorkeling we were introduced to a world of beautiful corals and colorful fish, and yes we found Nemo :)
We played in the ocean some more and then at 5 pm we went for tea tin the local village. Along with tea and coffee we were also served some sweet local snacks made of coconut. After that we headed back to the ship . We were extremely tired after a day of rigorous activities. But like I said watching the ocean has a calming effect :)
The morning routine for day 3 was similar to that of day 2 and today we headed to the capital of Lakshwadeep Kavarati. Kavarati was rather disappointing after having seen Mini Coy. The water was not as clear and a lot of ships and boats made it appear rather crowded. We chose to do some deep ocean kayaking (the ocean was steep compared to Mini Coy). We did a glass boat ride in the corals which I believe was the saving grace fit this island. We spotted and fed various fish such as clown fish, sea cucumber, Christmas worm, turtles, Neelemha and various others that do not even know the name of. In the evening there was a local dance performance which was delightful. And then we headed back to the ship
We disembarked with a heavy heart and a massive case of vacation blues. This trip is comes highly recommended, do plan you guys!
