Small terminal which is still under construction but it is the main gateway of Andaman.Don't miss the amazing view of shades of green islands in the blue sea before landing.
Even before checking into hotel we went here to book our ship to Neil and Havelock islands, government ships are limited and difficult to get their tickets, heir some locals to get you tickets the before day and tip them.
Evening we went out to roam the city of port blair, veer savarkar park and Rajiv Gandhi water sport complex were well lightened and decorated.
Then at 8:30pm we saw sound and light show of cellular jail which potrays the bravery and patriotism of our freedom fighters and the history of that jail.
We got up early the next morning to catch our ship to Neil Island.we sailed on "NORTH PASSAGE". prefer government ships as you can climb ship's deck and enjoy awesome landscapes, don't miss the light house of North bay island (light house on back of Rs.20 note).
We reached Neil island in 2hrs and it's jetty is still under construction surrounded by mangroves.we rented a cab to show all the scenic spots of the island.
This beach is famous for its "Natural bridge" Mark it as first place to see if you visit Neil.we are allowed only during low tide to watch the bridge,I suggest to wear ankle shoes because you need to walk through dead corals which are sharp and chance to slip, also carry a pair of flipflops if u want to get into water because the crystal clear waters tempt u alot to swim.
The water is soo clear that u could see marine life through the surface, take some bread pieces to attract fish and try clicking underwater with a waterproof mobile case.
Best place to chill out if you want some privacy as there would be no much tourists coming here but it is a pretty nice beach with low tide and fine sand.we headed back to Jetty to catch our ship to Havlock island.
It took about 1hr to reach Havlock jetty and we could see people doing watersports near it.We checked into a hotel had our lunch and took scootys to roam Havlock
This island has 3 main roads, one leading to Jetty, one to Radhanagar beach, one to kalapatthar beach.we had our best time roaming this island on scootys enjoying the cool sea breeze and greenery of the island.A government petrol bunk is available on the way to Radhanagar beach where the fuel is cheap.
By evening we headed to Radhanagar beach which is one among the best beaches of world to see the sunset, ride to this beach is refreshing with a straight stretch of road which ends at the sea shore. Its an eye feast to watch the sun getting down through the sea waves.plan to visit this beach during sunset to catch a pretty amazing scene.
Before dawn we went for scuba and I suggest everyone to be the first scuba diver as the visibility is highest in the mornings (75%),it is soo good that we could even see octopus in its camouflage. They'll take your photos and videos with a gopro,They wont allow you to capture anything even if you take a waterproof camera.persons with high eyesight like me can ask for "power mask" which improves your visibility. I highly recommend Havelock than all other islands to do scuba.
Name doesn't fit for that beach but a long stretch of silky white sand with big logs all along the beach, best place to have sunbath as there won't be much tourism here.shades of green, shallow waters, cool breeze, silky sand, sweet coconut water what else do we need to feel like paradise.
This comes on the way to Radhanagar beach.we can go by speed boat directly to beach or we need to treck 2km through forest which I recommend.while walking to the beach through forest we come across tall trees to dead mangroves towards the shore.DONT EXPECT ELEPHANTS,it is mainly a watersports beach with lots of options like scuba, snorkel, sea walk, glass boat, speed boat and many, but don't prefer doing scuba here because it is a busy beach so water gets muddy and there won't be much visibility,it is best to do water rides as it has low tide.
Again we went to Radhanagar to swim in that beautiful pool of low tide water which doesn't let you get out of it,what else can I say about this beach, it's simply fabulous.
By afternoon we were at Jetty to catch our ship back to port Blair,I could catch amazing sunset through the islands on my way back.
Evening after dinner we went for a drive along corbyns cove road which is a beautiful marine drive along the beach and many hangout places,Tiranga memorial is one among them which was recently built with some modren architecture.
We have to book tickets for Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (Ross island) &North bay island (coral island) at Rajiv Gandhi water sport complex.
If you have already done scuba and snorkeling at Havelock island I suggest you not to perfer them at North bay island, but don't miss the LIGHT HOUSE VIEW from North bay island which is the only attraction of this island.
If you are not interested in light house then only book ticket Ross island, boat will stop only for 1hr at Ross island which is not even enough to roam half if the island,so if you are interested in fallen buildings and historic architecture of British I suggest you to book seperate ticket to Ross island.
Which is now renamed as NETAJI SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE island is a small island and used to be the British capital of Andaman before port Blair.
If you like old abandoned buildings and architecture this is a must visit place for you, huge old banyan trees on these fallen buildings are the top attraction here and we can see deers and peacocks roaming freely in this island. It stretches about 1km and don't miss the light house on the other end of the island because there won't be enough time if you want to walk to the other end so it's better you go to light house first and watch other places while coming back.
This island is a must visit place in your trip
