Chikmagalur is a small hillstation in Karnataka famous for it's coffee. It is said that it's one of the few places in India where coffee is cheaper than tea. It's a perfect weekend getaway from Bangalore.

Day 1

As we had just two days we started from Bangalore early morning at around 4:30 am. We reached Chikmagalur at around 11 am. We checked into our hotel and relaxed for a while. After lunch we headed towards the first place that is Jhari falls.

It took us one hour from our hotel to reach Jhari falls. But private vehicles aren't allowed all the way up to the falls. You need to hire a jeep that takes you to the falls. The jeep costs a total of 700 rs.
The falls were really amazing. It's an ideal place to just hang out with friends. You can also get drenched under the falls.
After having a great time at Jhari falls we headed towards Bababudangiri hills.

It took us another half an hour to reach the hills. The hills were really beautiful. There were a few shops as well which served snacks and tea. We had some snacks and started climbing one of the hills. It took some effort to reach the top but it was all worth it as the view was spectacular.

It was a perfect place to enjoy the sunset. After that we headed back towards our hotel.

Day 2

Our plan for second day was to climb the highest peak of Karnataka i.e. Mullayanagiri Peak and visit coffee plantations. We started at around 7 am. We reached the starting point of Mullayanagiri at around 8:15 am. There were 500 steps to reach the top. It was way more easier than I expected.

The view was amazing from the top. There was also a temple of Mulappa Swamy from which the peak gets it's name.

After Mullayanagiri we headed towards the coffee plantations. I'm not a big fan of coffee so I wasn't really that excited about it. It took us another hour to reach there. Honestly i felt that this was overrated. There was nothing new. It was just coffee and coffee. There was a small store outside the plantation that sold coffee.

Note: If you have one extra day, you can consider visiting Kudremukh. It's around 120 kms from Chikmagalur.
