Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. To the northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges.
Cherrapunji has often been credited as being the wettest place on Earth, but for now nearby Mawsynram currently holds that distinction. Cherrapunji still holds the all-time record for the most rainfall in a calendar month and in a year.
Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, is the nearest airport to Cherrapunji, and is accessible from Guwahati. From Guwahati You can reach Cherrapunji in standard 4 hours drive (a must to take).
#Home-stays are the best to explore. Hire a bi-cycle and roam around or if your are adventurous enough then take a hike into the mountains.
PS: I could literally see birds flying beneath me :)
