“Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times”

After hearing a lot of Double Decker bridge & beauty of north east. I booked a return flight from Delhi to Shillong in 11k (a month in advance)

Day 1

And the day arrived. I took a flight from Delhi to Shillong and reached shillong by 5pm. Stayed in a hotel at amazing location "pegasus crown" in 1.5k (for one night) and took a scooty on rent in 300 per day.

I started exploring shillong with elephanta falls, hills around the city & ended the day with stunning police bazaar

Police bazaar is the best place to shop different varieties of berries, cloths, souvenirs & shoes. This market has a perfect crowd and feel in night. Do try sweets at "unique sweet shop"

Ended the day with a nice dinner at City Hut (Main Shillong)

Day 2

I woke up early in the morning and headed to cheerapunji, It is around 55 KM and takes about little less than 2 hours to reach (If you know how to ride a scooty then must do this road trip by a scooty)

You will watch the most scenic beauty of northeast. Never ending lush green mountains, clouds & mist. You would fall in love with it.

I found one nice place on the way to cheerapunji (never heard about it on internet or seen anybody visiting that ever) and had a delicious breakfast there (sorry i still do not know the name of that place - but can show you a picture below).

Cost - 300 Per Person

Once you reach to Cheerapunji, you would know that its a very small village but you would easily find a nice grocery store that would give you anything you want, from imported chocolates to all type of snacks. It is also very easy to get a nice room and stay as a paying guest with landlords.

I went to Nohkalikai Falls (Tallest waterfall of India) & Dainthlen Falls

I got one room with an old lady in 1k per night and had a nice dinner with her.

Since most of us know that cheerapunji get highest rainfall throughout. It was so beautiful to hear clouds n rain entire night that make your stay more memorable.

Day 3
On the way to Nongriat
On the way to Nongriat
Way down to Double Decker Bridge

So I kept the best for the last.. It is Nongriat - A small trek down to Double Decker bridge.

Early morning road trip from Cheerapunji city to Nongriat is the abode of god (pictures down below). Once you reach to Nongriat you get bike / scooty / car parking facility in 50 rupees.

It takes about 1 hour to reach the double decker. Most of it is through stairs and in between you also get to see some small waterfalls & couple of bridges to cross.

Once you reach the point & it makes you feel happy & accomplished.

Do try fruits on the way like pineapple, cucumber, mango, coconut and more.

Same day after returning from double decker, i headed back to Shillong to catch the flight to return back to Delhi

Total Cost - 20k

Must visit - Police Bazaar, Tallest waterfall & Nongriat

Must take scooty to travel across.
