Travelled from Chennai airport to Pondicherry by road. The ECR( East coast road) was a treat in itself. It took me about 3 hours to reach Pondicherry by taxi.
The idea if this vacation was to relax so walking around Pondicherry was the best way as someone suggested. So I put on my walking shoes checked out the corner cafes, the beach and food street . I kept the daytime activity to a minimal due to heat. Of course swimming and scuba diving were an option. But for those, book lovers it's actually a heaven. By evening the beautiful parks were also wonderful place to chill or disappear into the world of books.
The other side of the posh Pondicherry also had a different side to it, known as the Tamil colonies. It was quite a market , the beaches were different and arguably less touristy, nevertheless fish fries were all to popular and looked promising with spices and of course filter coffee is a must. The temples were elaborate, ornate and colorful. They even had an elephant Lakshmi who blessed those who give money.
The last day it was all about food, souvenirs and some book purchases before heading back to the Chennai Airport through the ECR.
