Traveling to mountains gets limited during monsoon due to risks of landslide. Most destinations, specially Sikkim mountains are better avoided after June. There are some destinations though with much less risk in journey and they offer mesmerizing views of green mountains and white clouds. One such place is Chakrata in Uttarakhand.
Visiting Chakrata is a one day trip. Taking a car from Dehradun in takes around 3:30 hours to reach the mountains of Chakrata. The route crosses Yamuna near Kalsi.
Entire road trip gives breathtaking view of green and blue mountains. Occasional white clouds will just add to the beauty. The road is in really good condition for almost the entire stretch.
Crossing through the market and town of Chakrata in some 40 minutes one will reach the famous Tiger falls. The tourism department has taken care of the place very well.
A unforgettable nature walk is waiting for you towards Tiger falls. The falls is equally beautiful in monsoon and its great fun to have a bath here. Changing rooms are available and they are very clean.
You can also get yourself a hot bowl of maggi after the hike. There are shops close to the falls.
