During my winter vacations, I convinced my dad to take us to Shimla, with a hope that it might snow. Well, it didn't. But the trip made me fall in love with that place. I really thought Shimla would be just another overrated and overcrowded tourist destination, but well I think the crowd gives that great vibe to it.
So we left Chandigarh at around 10a.m. And, it was pretty cold. We took a stop at this really really pretty Mc Donald's on the way.
In some 2 more hours, we reached Shimla. And the view was breathtaking
As soon as we reached, we decided to go to this temple that is really famous for it's 180feet tall Hanuman statue. Well, my mom and dad really wanted to go there, so we took a taxi that's available right when you enter Shimla. There's a long queue of people for the lift that goes up to the mall road. We, took a taxi from there (costs around 200 bucks). It was almost time for sunset by then so the view was just, amazing.
There's a little climb of stairs till the temple.
Also, there are a lot of monkeys there which I sort of ignored AND one of the monkeys took my specs. Can you believe it? 🤣
We had to wait for a long time to get it back from the monkey which was pretty funny. The entire crowd of the temple was just looking at it and the monkey jumped to the top of the temple, kept my specs there and ran away. Someone helped us get it from up there. So yeah, the moral of the story, please try to keep your belongings, especially your phones and glasses safe. We left from there after watching the sunset.
We then went back to where we had took the taxi and started the climb for the famous mall road. We didn't take the lift since it was a really long queue. But it's not that difficult to reach mall road by foot. The mall road is a really really pretty place. We went there on Christmas so it was time for the evening mass at the church. We went there, lit the candles and then had dinner. We then took the lift to go back down.
We had booked this resort called Manla Resort which was pretty far from Shimla. We were very annoyed by the time we reached there since it was late at night. The rooms were pretty good. And we all just slept but when we woke up the next morning, it was the best view we had ever seen. We woke up in a valley. We wanted to stay a little longer but sadly it was time to check out.
We then proceeded to Kufri. There we took 4 horses and rode up till a village which had a life of it's own. I think the pictures will pretty much describe what it's all about.
Last on our itinerary, we went to Chail Palace which is enroute Chandigarh from Shimla. It's also converted into a hotel. We had Chai and Pakoda in the restaurant there which gave us Royal feels, the way they served the chai and then took a stroll around. And that's pretty much it.
