Bollywood movies have always paved the way for travellers as new locales have been explored, that has eventually led to the tourism boost of that region. “King Of Hearts”, Shah Rukh Khan’s latest movie “Pathan” that has already been declared a blockbuster is no exception. Shot over these eight countries (excluding India) it’s time you start planning your 2023 itinerary to cover them all (especially the King Khan fans!)
1. Spain
Known for football, flamenco, churched, pristine beaches, culture and history and Of Course ‘La Tomantina’ festival, this is one of the less travelled countries by Indians. Although “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” gave a different perspective and promoted Spain travel but there is still a lot more to explore.
2. UAE
United Arab Emirates or the UAE is synonymous with Dubai and when Dubai comes to mind then comes Burj Khalifa. Apart from these there are a lot of other places to see and explore.
3. Turkey
Flanked by Asia on one side, and Europe on the other, this place offers a plethora of experiences and adventures – hot air balloon over Cappadocia, a visit to the famous Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, lazing in a natural sauna and hopping across markets tasting the delectable delicacies.
4. Russia
Russia’s relationship with Bollywood has been longstanding, starting from “Awara” that sold over 63 million tickets in Russia. Not only for shooting purpose, quite a few renowned actors and actresses of Bollywood even travelled to Russia to explore the country and culture that adore them so much.
5. Siberia
Known for its harsh, long winters, Siberia is a part of Russia and harbour’s some stunning, picturesque locales like Lake Baikal (Deepest Lake In the World), the forest reserve of Stolby, ice-diving in Lake Baikal (writing about it is giving me chills!!), kayak along the Bering Sea and witness colonies of sea lions resting on rocks, playing paintball in a taiga forest, explore arctic Yakutiya with reindeer and so on.
6. Italy
Europe has been the melting pot of cultures and Italy has been at its helm. It has been created through the pages of history that taught us about Medieval Period. The European Renaissance that was the rebirth of classical culture was born in Italy and later spread to other parts of Europe from the 14th to the 17th century. Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, St. Peter’s Basilica, Pantheon, Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Leaning Tower of Pisa are classic architectural marvels that may move even a hardened man/woman.
7. France
Every romantic couple’s dream and honeymooners’ haven, France does not need an introduction – it’s just the place to be! Be it the captivating Eiffel Tower, or the delicate Le Louvre or the one finest examples of French Gothic architecture that took the shape of Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris – everything is right on point with all the angles of symmetry in place. Be it fashion, food, history or culture. Here…. You can have it all!
8. Afghanistan
While visions of the dry, deserts and rocky terrain, appear when we think of Afghanistan, this place houses a lot more than just rocky hills and sand dunes. From the spectacular Blue Mosque of Afghanistan to the site of Bamiyan Buddhas to the splash of blue Band-e-Amir lakes and many more. To know about a place, it is essential to visit and explore and the gems of Afghanistan still remains largely untapped. It is time to change that!
While the plot of the movies may be fictional, but the places where the films are shot are not. So, keep your eyes open and be on the lookout for exotic locales that are featured in movies and list them down to create your own itinerary.
Well, I usually jot the places down…. Do you?
