Summer is short in Canada. So everybody tries to capture as much as they can. Every weekend people plan to go somewhere or the other.
If you are in Toronto and already done with the usual Ottawa and Montreal then think about Windsor Canada.
Well there is not much to do there and it is like 4 hours drive for a getaway but if you love scenic beauty and country side then you may love it.
Let me share my trip.
Why I decided to visit Windsor Canada
1. Saw pictures of a friend at the Southern-most Tip of Canada
2. Country Side and an Island Trip
Day 1 :
Left from Toronto around 10am in the morning. It was Saturday of the July Long weekend.
We took break at London, Ontario for lunch and roamed a bit to see the place .
Went back on our way to Windsor Canada.
We had booked a hotel through Expedia.
Reached by approximately 3Pm and did all the formalities for check in.
In the evening we googled to see the places around and knew we are almost at the USA Canada border, so can see the same.
We left our car at the hotel and went to the waterfront by uber.
1. Sculpture Garden
2. Riverside Walk
It is a long stretch of waterfront walk with different names and divided into 5 gardens and parks.
We walked all the way and there is a restaurant right by the waterfront - Bristo, had some amazing chicken wings and drinks.
Continued our way to complete the skyline view and Detroit river view.
There are Cruises too that operate in Summer but we missed it and frankly did not want to be on water.
There is Ceasars Casino if anyone is interested in trying some luck.
After that we asked around for some famous pubs and did pub hopping (reason for not taking car ????????)
We checked Foundry Pub, Manchester.
This one street is like the downtown and happening street !
Then retired for the night as day 2 was gonna be adventurous !!
So the adventure in Windsor Canada starts on Day 2.
We left for Kingsville and had an amazing breakfast at The Beach house.
Then the First destination was Point Pelee Island. You need to take Ferry service of 1.5 hour one way to reach the island. But as we reached there we found out that Ferry was cancelled for the day due to June Bugs.
So we left for our second destination that is in Leamington - Point Pelee National Park to see the Southermost tip of Canada .
Entry fee is 7$ . You get the map with ticket. Whole park is so big that there as various sections to explore.
We reached the end - Tip Centre first.
We rented bikes. Well there is shuttle service from this point to the tip too. Or you can walk.
We Biked.
After reaching the point, you have to walk for few minutes to reach the tip. Water on both sides and the land ends. You cannot see anything beyond.
Wow !!
After exploring this place , we drove to beach point to get little wet in beach.
Then there is a ling boardwalk on Marsh area. You can kayak too. We walked the whole boardwalk trail on water !
That was it for us.
It was hot summer day and June bugs did trouble a lot.
Went back to hotel and then back to the Riverside walk.
Explored the city little more and that was the end of our Trip.
Next day back to Toronto from Windor Canada
Suggestion: If you plan to visit US, then you can halt here for a day and explore on the way.
