Day 1

Amritsar has always been known as the city of Golden Temple- the abode of God and has always attracted travellers from across the world to visit this holy place once. I have comeup with this post to tell you guys more about the city and to help you plan your visit so that you can explore all the places of interest here.

If you are coming from outside Punjab, you will be glad to know that Amritsar has a domestic/international airport. And if your flight lands in New Delhi, then the New Delhi-Amritsar road is a wide 4 lane road which makes your journey a comfortable experience.

On the way you can stop at JALANDHAR HAVELI which is a beautiful spot to relax and rejuvenate, serving the best food of Punjab and showcasing the rich culture of Punjab.

You will be welcomed to the Holy city by a huge gate of Golden color creating excitement about the place. Move straight towards the city through the specially made flyovers that will land you right into the parking of THE GOLDEN TEMPLE.

Park your vehicle's and don't carry much luggage with you as it's a huge place to explore and it will be better if you carry minimum load with you.

Place 1: Seek blessings of the holy God by praying at the GOLDEN TEMPLE and take a dip in the divine Sarovar in the middle of which the Temple is situated. Have the tasty GURU KA LANGAR (food for all) which is served with the purpose that whosoever enters the home of God should not be left hungry and all people sit together to have the food that is being prepared in world's largest kitchen serving food to the largest crowd on daily basis.

Pllace 2: JALLIANWALA BAGH is located at 5 minute walking distance from the Golden Temple. A must visit place for the people who are interested in the history of Punjab. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre got written in blood when General Dyre of British Army opened fire on silently protesting crowd. And to save themselves from the bullets people ran and some jumped into a well also. The well, the bullet marks are still there and can be seen. A new memorial has also been created that pays homage to the deceased.

Place3: Jallianwala Bagh is located on HERITAGE WALK where you can visit the market whose look has been restored to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. Must buy THE AMRITSARI PAPAD and BADIYAN as they are the speciality of Amritsar. Also taste the special AMRITSARI NAAN/KULCHAS which are famous in whole country.

Place 4: SADA PUNJAB. Head to a beautiful location that is approximately 20kms from here. Sada punjab has been designed to present the cultural heritage of the true Punjab giving you feel of the villages and the simpler ways of living life from where they have progressed to urbanisation. But till today the deep village roots are connected to the same simple soil that teaches love and care for everyone and feeding the world to spread happiness.

The ticket costs Rs. 750 per person inclusive of a lavish buffet dinner. But if you buy it from the counter at Heritage street it will cost you Rs. 675 per person

Head for your hotel and relax to explore again the next day. Good night.

Day 2

🏘️Place 5- DURGIANA TEMPLE- Start the day by visiting the famous Durga temple situated in the heart of city. Like the Golden Temple, Durgiana temple is also located in the middle of a holy Lake. The temple got its importance from Ramayana point of view also as it is believed that Lava and Kush tied the horse of Lord Rama to fight with Hanuman ji, herewith a tree in the temple. So it's a beautiful place to visit and feel enlightened.

Place 6- GOBINDGARH FORT: A historical fort belonging to one of the most powerful kings of India MAHARAJA RANJIT SINGH. The fort was earlier occupied by Defence Forces but has now been opened for the public. A must visit fort to know about the history of the Powerful King who made the enemies run for their lives. The big cannons are still guarding the fort, though for display only. The 7D show on the history of the king and fort, the laser show, the museums, the beautiful gardens leave you with beautiful memories. Camel/Horse Safaris and play zone for kids keeps them entertained and doesn't let's them get bored. (Safaris are closed temporarily due to COVID restrictions. )

Place 7- WAGAH BORDER EVENING PRADE- Wagah is the international border between India and Pakistan. The flag lowering ceremony, the sheer display of power is a drill exercise, done daily before sunset, is a must watch for everyone visiting Amritsar. The border gates are opened and the flags of both countries are lowered at same time and folded and it ends with shaking of hands which consists both of rivalry and cooperation (Closed temporarily due to COVID Restrictions)
