To add to this list, Unakoti in Tripura is now going to be more accessible to the tourists. Unakoti, located in Tripura is also known as the ‘Angkor Wat of the North-East’, and is now hoping to get added in the UNESCO world heritage list. Dating back to 7th-9th centuries, Unakoti is a 'Shaiba' (Saivite) pilgrimage site with a lakh of Shaivite rock carvings figures along with other gods and goddess.

Both the government and ASI and working to preserve these distinct rock cut sculptures with distinct mongoloid featuring almost the same mystical charm as the spellbinding figures in the Angkor Wat temple of Cambodia.

The name Unakoti means ‘one less one crore’ in Hindi and Bengali. In the local Kokborok language, the place is called as 'Subrai Khung' and is an important tourist spot of the Unakoti District in Tripura.

Even with this uniqueness a lot of people don't know about this place. Which is why the state tourism department is planning to change all this by bringing several tourist-friendly amenities to the site.

With future plans offer facilities like a cafeteria, toilets, safe drinking water and a parking lot the tourism department wants to attract more people to Unakoti.
