So I set foot out on my way to visit the largest twin freshwater lakes in Abhayapuri, Assam. It is named as the Tamranga and Corona Beel which is located in Bishnupur , Abhayapuri. Abhayapuri town is located in the district of Bongaigaon in lower Assam.

The twin lakes are about some 8- 10 kms away from the Abhayapuri town and one needs to have their own vehicles to travel to the spot. It is an off beat place for travelers since it is located remotely away from the main town with limited local transportation. One can stop for quick tea and snacks as there are a couple of roadside tea shops on the way. The lake is surrounded by hills on one side and rubber plantations and paddy fields on the other side. The place is very beautiful with swift winds blowing.

The twin lakes are quite large and one can spot farmers spreading their fishing nets there. One might be lucky and can get a local boat ride from the fisherman there if them seem generous enough.

It is also called as an ornithologists paradise as it is the home to a large number of migratory birds there. The ideal time of the year would be in the months of August - February. For bird lovers and ornithologists the ideal timings are in the month of January- February as migratory birds travel over to this place every year.

However I suggest that one must travel at early times of the day since the spot is located far away from the town and not safe for travel in the late evenings, specially after dark.
