Human Stories of the Journey

Tripoto

The purpose of the trip is to find and film untold human stories and showcase that to the world. As we went ahead with our riding we documented 4 human stories along the way:

1. We captured the common man's perspective on Narco Tourism and how Pablo Escobar pretty much has affected everyone's family there and how insensitive it is as tourists to even speak about him. We also spent time investigating the drug trafficking that still exists in Colombia. Escobar is the worst nightmare that everyone there wants to forget there but can't thanks to a television show portraying him as a good man.

2. We met a Spanish baker who has been on the roads for the past 10 years as he quit being a tennis coach in Madrid and left to South America to just wander but before leaving his grandma gave him a box of yeast with which he can make savour dough bread and sell it. This guy works 2 days a week making and selling bread and spending the rest of the time watching the sun go up and come down as a full time job.

3. While walking the streets of Bogota we saw an interesting concept of people playing chess in the streets and we saw an old man in a wheelchair playing chess upon chatting with him over a game of chess we found out that 8 years ago he was stabbed on his spine by a mugger who stole his wallet and ever since he has been confirmed to a wheelchair but one day he stumbled up the beautiful game of chess which made him forget the pain and he has been playing at the same spot for 8 years come rain or storm. His philosophy in life is based out of the game of chess.

4. The final story is about the underground Graffiti scene in Bogota where it's a cat and mouse game between the creative artists and the government. Bogota is the graffiti capital of South America and the current mayor is against making arts on the walls of the city so it's quite fascinating how these artists risk their life and paint as they believe in freedom of expression.

All these were the subplots in the journey but the main story was Sukesh and I and how different we were as 2 people with 2 different motorcycles riding around South America all the way from South India and the emotions, fights, anger, respect, love we share for each other.

The journey is not complete without thanking our main sponsors Castrol for trusting in us and sending us all the way here without whom none of this would have been possible.
