Bhandasar Jain Temple is one of the oldest temple in Bikaner, and was built in the 15th century by a Jain merchant Bhanda Shah Oswal.
It is in the old walled city of Bikaner, and dedicated to the fifth Tirthankara, Sumatinath. The ground floor of the temple possesses a white marble statue of Lord Sumatinath perched on a silver throne atop a 2 feet high pavilion.
The sandstone pillars on the ground floor of the temple are embellished with beautiful sculptures. The temple is known for its gold-leaf work and artistically sculpted pillars.
Decorated with mirror work, frescoes, usta art and wall paintings. The temple is divided into three floors.
One can see the skyline of Bikaner by climbing to the topmost floor of this temple.
It is believed that the temple was made with 40,000 kilograms of ghee instead of mortar for its foundation, which locals insist seeps through the walls on hot days!
