The Buddha dordenma statue is 169 feet tall statue of buddha situated in the foothills in thimpu. It's iconic gold and bronze statue that's visible from all across thimpu in bhutan which is one of the best tourist place in bhutan. It's situated in the tophills of the picturesque mountains here in thimpu. The giant statue of lord buddha represents dominant religion of bhutan. You will see a string of flags at the roadsides where you can see several praying wheels around the clock tower in the middle of the town. It has a beautiful paintings that adorn the walls that are made of cement and rock. It's the largest statue in bhutan with 52.5 metres tall and is made up of bronze wherein inside the statue, there are 1,25,000 small figurine where there are 25,000 and 12 inches ones and 100,000 8 inches one. It's situated in kuenselphodrang, thimphu in bhutan and it's surrounded by Kuensel phodrang nature park. One can take a taxi from anywhere in thimphu to reach to this statue. The construction of the buddha dordenma statue was initiated to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the fourth king of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
