Nestled in the heart of India, Bhopal offers a perfect blend of nature and history. Popularly known as the City of Lakes with serene water bodies like Bada Talab and Chhota Talab, the city is an oasis amidst urban lifestyles. But that is not all; it is also known as the City of Mosques because of its beautiful architecture. Lofty buildings-like the famous Taj-ul Masajid, pride of being one of the biggest mosques in Asia, stand out as proud reminders of its rich cultural heritage. Be it a history enthusiast or an admirer of nature, every tourist will find something magical to spend time in Bhopal.
It may appear that a day is too little to feel the richness of a place like Bhopal, but if planned properly, one can surely see some of the best sights here. From grand mosques to serene lakes, Bhopal can boast so many things. Come with me as.
1. Tajul Masajid – The Crown of Mosques
I began my journey with the grand Tajul Masajid, which is one of the biggest mosques in India. The white magnificent domes and lofty minarets speak volumes of the great Mughals. As I stepped inside, I felt the air ring with calm and reverberation. The vastness of the courtyard with intricate arches and the piety in the air took me back to times unknown.
Interesting Fact: Construction of Tajul Masajid began in the 19th century but was completed in 1985.
2-MPT BOAT CLUB: Sail into Serenity
From the mosque, I proceeded straight to MPT Boat Club, located near the picturesque Bhopal Lake. It is well-renowned for its serene boat rides. Thus, having to enjoy the fantastic view of the lake and at the same time, be forwarded to my next destination, Hazrat Shah Ali Dargah.
The water was so calm, and the breeze was cool enough to provide a perfect refuge from the busy noises of the city. The best part was the running of the boat, which added refreshing charm to my journey.
3: Hazrat Shah Ali Dargah – Spiritual Oasis on the Lake
After the boating, I reached Hazrat Shah Ali Dargah, which is a serene spiritual place situated just beside the lake. In fact, this dargah visit was made all the more especial by the session of boating. The moment I entered the dargah, the serenity of the place filled me with a sense of calmness. Everything in the surroundings was so green, and that holy particular atmosphere made it an apt place for some quiet contemplation.
How to Reach: The most interesting way to reach Hazrat Shah Ali Dargah is by taking a boat ride from the MPT Boat Club, which is an adventure!
4. People's Mall – Fun, Food, and Entertainment
Finally, my day got over with a blast in this most happening People's Mall of Bhopal. From experiencing the spiritual side of Bhopal, it was now time for some entertainment to be indulged in. Be it food courts or amusement rides, everything is present in this mall. I spent quite some time savoring various delectable snacks and playing some video games.
People's Mall is a place where one should conclude the Bhopal trip on a fun-filled note for those who love some adrenaline.
