Waking up to the reflection of the Sun falling in the lake with a background of mountains, Sounds peaceful right! That’s how our stay at Sojourn by the lake was.
Bhimtal is one of my favorite places to drive to from home (Haldwani) and take a beautiful walk along the lake. This time we decided to stay for the night and experience the wholesome vibe of Bhimtal.
How to reach - We drove to Bhimtal and reached around noon. If you are coming from Delhi, take the Kathgodam Shatabdi that leaves from New Delhi at 6am and reaches the last station Kathgodam at 11.45am. It's a scenic drive from Kathgodam station in an hour to reach the beautiful lake.
Sojourn by the lake is this beautiful property located alongside the lake which has six beautifully designed suites having two bedrooms each with private lake view balconies. Our suite was by the name of Lighthouse which had this spacious living room leading to the balcony where one can sit and spend hours watching the lake, it's perfect for digital nomads like us or even for a workcation.
The living room was equipped with a mini fridge and a huge dining room. If you are planning a weekend getaway to a relaxing place with family or a group of friends away from the hustle bustle of the city, Sojourn is perfect. A suite can accommodate 4-6 people at once without compromising on the comfort.
One can just relax, enjoy with friends or spend some quality time with the partner with the gorgeous view. We spent our afternoon sunbathing through the window and headed for a small walk in the evening alongside the lake. It was amazing watching local people move around and knowing we don't have to drive back home. We came back to an amazing candle light dinner setup done by the staff and enjoyed the delicious meal - the Dal was amazing.
Activities -
Take a walk alongside the lake.
Take a boat ride in the lake offering great view of the mountains from different angles
Visit the aquarium located right in the center of the lake.
Take an early morning hike to the Hidimba Parvat for a gorgeous aerial view of the lake
The best part was sleeping with the reflection of lights in the lake. It got a little chilly in the room but we were glad to find a room heater in the closet. For obvious reasons, we didn’t draw the curtains and woke up early to this beautiful painting, but it was real. I took the opportunity and decided to do a little Yoga and meditate. Later I spent the morning sipping coffee with the view and wrapping up this blog. I feel so refreshed as I pen down my thoughts and experience of Sojourn.
Special thanks to Mr. Mahipal, the manager who looks after the property. He made sure we were comfortable throughout and extra points for being a funny bone. It was a great experience and Soulful Safarnama highly recommends it if you are looking to have a good time with family or friends away from the city.
