Solo trip in Brussels
I was staying in Brussels, heard from so many people that Bruges is a must visit place
Morning 7 took a train from Brussels to Bruges
Train from Brussels to Bruxelles Central took me an hour
One important note: be careful to check the class of train. Like if u have bought normal ticket don't sit in first class.
The way to Bruges is extremely beautiful.
Once in Bruges. First thing I did was bought a book and a map
So this is extremely small town which u can cover on foot or rent a bicycle.
I preferred by foot. I started exploring the place and realized this is most beautiful place I have ever been to.
Top places
Markt : this is like central plaza and there is market place, eating stuff around, also a good place to start exploring . Also I was visiting in November so the winter market had already started and so was ice skating. It was freezing cold near the water bodies so most of the gondolas were not in use.
As an how I was walking I was looking in my map book and exploring. I didn't plan the explore beforehand.
Church of our lady : this is spire topped church and has Michelangelo art. Remains tallest structure and second tallest brick tower in world. This is a must see.
Basilica of Holy Blood : built between 1134-1157 this is iconic and another must see. Once in, there is a lot to read about the history.
You can write a small note of your wish and put it in the box. They say it is read in the next day mass and that it definitely gets fulfilled.
Shopping : lovely lace products and show pieces.
By afternoon I realized I was tired walking and needed break. I went to the central for some authentic food. But the junk food caught my attention. I had huge French fries at a food truck nearby which was really filling. Other than that waffles was something to try on.
Also there was a local beer shop inside the interiors. It was mostly famous for tap beer and I must have tasted a hell lot of different beer.
This place is never ending and spectacular.
I kept exploring till 5pm and took a train back to Brussels
Note for self. There is a risk of pickpocketing which is been said. So need to be careful. Other than that it is completely a safe place to explore for a sole traveler too.
