After celebrating Diwali with family and friends in India, time for some tourism before I head back to my home in New York, USA. To make most of my trip to India, I chose to combine tourism to another country and this time it was Thailand.
Unlike my previous solo backpack trip to Japan, I did not research much into Thailand and its culture before starting the trip. All I knew was what places the tour includes and it was relatively cheaper country. Thailand is very easy country: to eat, shop, go around.
We spent a few days in Bangkok, then took an overnight train to Surat Thani to be at Khao Sok national park (lake) and ending with relaxing stay for 4 nights at Koh Phangan Island enjoying Full moon Parties and beaches. I will let the pictures narrate most of the tale...
Visa on Arrival was very easy. Thailand also exempted Visa cost. FunFact: Visa application line was shorter at immigration than regular line, so I was out in city earlier than someone who already had Visa.
Since, it was a red-eye flight I took long nap and then headout for first time in the Bangkok city. Taking advantage of the weekend, I went to the Weekend market and then a few more places for the day by myself.
After a few hours at Weekend Market, I took a cab to Google Thailand. I like to Badge in and see different Google office around the globe. Unfortunately, my this time I could do it only on weekend
Knowing me, Day 1 hasn't ended yet. My hotel was close to Khaosan Road, the iconic Party street of Bangkok. I came here for next 2 nights with my fellow travelers again..
Met my New Yorker friend Reshmi and Mickey, they hosted me to really great restaurant with good view... The Deck by Arun Residence.
Boat Rides..
And then we took Van and Motor Boat to Plernprai Rafthouse, where we did not have access to Electricity and Phone Signals for next 20+ hours.
KAYAKING - Khao Sok Lake
.... From KhaoSok National Park, we went back to SuratThani to head to Koh Phangan Island to the east of Thailand. We spend next 4 nights, 5 days there.
... and finally reached Sarana Bungalows, and we spend most time in pool and beaches..
and more Selfies....
and we did various things on the island, ... such as:
snorkeling, motorbiking, Full moon party, shopping, street food, beaches, Muay thai classes etc.
... Hikes
