Bangkok City Day 2
Hostel in Bangkok: 202THB/night for a room in a mixed dormitory with 14 bed
This place is close to the Hua Lumphong Metro so just a 10 minutes’ walk to Metro and travel is a piece of Cake. You get a direct bus to MBK center and Platinum mall, Khaosan Road, Sky Bar from this place. They charge from 80THB to 150 THB for breakfast which is too much when you convert to INR. My alternative was this woman who came in the Morning near the hostel road and sold 3 slice Bread/Butter Sandwich for 20 THB. The place has got laundry shops around with washing machine, you can get clothes washed for 30 to 40THB. The Hostel is very clean, and the dormitory was quiet. You can leave your luggage at the hostel for free for 3 days.
MBK Mall
One of the famous malls in Bangkok but if you are looking for cheap clothes then this is not exactly the place for you. The prices for which you get clothes here you can get it even in India. You can try out the stalls outside the mall. You might get clothes for a better price compared to the mall. You can find Puma, Flying machine sale but it doesn’t make sense as buying something for 2500THB is like buying for 5300Rs.
You can walk a bit and you will come across Central World and Platinum Mall and while you are walking you will find a lot of small stalls by the road where you can buy some good clothes. Platinum mall is much cheaper compared to MBK. The price goes like 100THB,150THB,200THB. There is a skywalk to the other end of the road from the Platinum mall and as soon as you get down you will see a small market on a cross road. It has a great sale, clothes that you would find for 250THB in stalls outside mall you will find it for 100THB here. Yes, that’s the big difference. The more you explore the more you find better markets.
Ratchada Night Market
A good place to shop and eat. You can take a Metro to Thailand Cultural Centre and you will find the market right next to it. Khaosan Road is also another attraction for shopping and party. You can find many massage parlors on Khaosan Road and if you aren’t sure which one to go to you can always look for a Trip Advisor Certified parlor.
Sky Bar
Location of a scene from Hangover Part 2 the movie. Excellent view of the city. The dress code is very strict with no denim, flip-flop and no shorts. Entrance to the Sky Bar was regulated. Extremely high priced drinks. Unless you have a big budget this is not a place for you. You cannot use selfie sticks here to click pictures and once you enter the place you will definitely have to buy a drink and they will try to sell you the most priced cocktails. If you are willing to spend 1500rs to 2000 just on a drink for the view the place offers then you can go for it.
Talin Chan Floating and Klong Lat Mayom Floating Market
are about 15 to 20 KM from both the Hostels and you can either take a cab or bus combo to reach this place. Cab ride can be expensive if you are going solo so you will need to take the bus alternative that will take 1 to 2 hours to reach the place.
