Hi Bengalurians!! Let me introduce you to one of the best one day getaway where you don't even have to drive long or get out of Bengaluru. Ok! I know few of you are saying "Enough!! We already know this place"😄 But for those who don't know, this blog is for you.

Hesaraghatta, a common hangout place to students from Acharya, Sapthagiri and SKIT since its a bit near to those colleges. Fact check, apart from being a hotspot for photoshoots, this is the only remaining, vast grassland spread around 350 acres in Bengaluru.

How to visit?

Its around 1 or 2 hour drive from Bengaluru city and preferably its better to reach this place early in the morning. You can take Yeshwanthpur - 8th mile - Hesaraghatta route. If you are fitness freak, then pull out your bicycle and trust me this is the best destination. Since this place is kinda offbeat there will be securities or police who asks for the identity and the reason to roam in that area. So ladies, I can say its not a safe place for solo rides.

More about the place.

Before visiting to grasslands directly, you can go to Hesaraghatta lake. But I think you will be disappointed seeing the endorheic basin. You will get a view of Dam thou which is built by Sir M Visvesvaraya. When I visited the place, it was completely drained. I couldn't even find a trace of water. So, feel yourself lucky if there is enough water when you visit!!

Then we can head towards grasslands. The roads are clear with trees covering on both the sides. It will be a good experience for bike riders, riding on a good condition road, in the cool breeze with pollution and traffic free environment. When we reach this place, we need to sign in the register for some security purposes. Inside it looks like a vast playground with lots of trees(best place for hide and seek, haha), muddy roads, windy climate, chirpy birds etc. Everyone can enjoy this place, say it could be hangout with friends, photoshoots for models, nature enthusiasts and nature photographers, fun time with family etc. But at the same time maintaining cleanliness and protecting places like this is our duty.

Unfortunately there were orders to construct a film city by destroying this one and only Grasslands of Bengaluru. But our environmentalists took it seriously and rescued this place. On that note, I don't know when these people will realize the importance of nature(Of course, everyone knows the importance of oxygen now). All we need to do is, save nature which in turn saves us.

You can also plan to stay in "Native village" resorts near by. Native village is a eco friendly resort where they conduct some activities such as desi games like Lagori, Spinning tops, Kite flying etc. You can relish a jump to the natural pond, experience life of farm, have some nutritious food and enjoy some beautiful wall paintings. Well, I didn't go there, but you can surely stay if you have enough time and pocket full of money!!

After this we can head towards the dance village - Nrithyagram. It is community of dancers in a forsaken place amidst nature. A place where nothing exists, except dance. This place is open from 10.30am to 5.00pm with an entry fee 50Rs per head. The people here will introduce us to few dance forms, explains about the significance of dancing and our tradition and also teach us some steps. This place is worth a visit for all Bharathanatyam lovers.

So, what are you waiting for, gear up and hit this place!!
